Title: Writing and talking to MFG'S does work. PPU response inside
Post by: Intercooler on April 04 2013 09:14:44 AM MDT
I encourage everyone to keep writing to them like I do often. The response I got from PPU. Partizan about their 180 HP's.

Hi There,

Got your note concerning marginal performance of some of our

hollow point loads.  We certainly would appreciate a copy of your gelatin tests

and ballistic data so that we may make adjustments to improve the

situation.  Remember however, we must stay within industry (S.A.A.M.I.)

limits.

What type of gelatin are you using?  Also, we would like information on your

velocity measuring system.

Best regards,

Bob Reichenbach

So my plan is to get all the data, videos and specs for all I can find with suggestions at least as it pertains to 10mm. Need some feedback about the recent 1200 FPS test and/or possibly trying 1250-1300 FPS and staying in SAAMI.

Sent an overload of stuff. Let's see what we get.

Well.... I can't just leave you sittin' in this little room talking to yourself....

Good work, BTW, despite the [probable] result.

 ;D

You notice their is a good bit of PPU out there even with the normal stuff not to be found. I still believe the Gov't buying the 1.6 Billion rounds is the bigger culprit behind this!

No doubt the 1.6 B rounds has taken all the domestic production. Even Priv is getting hard to find and it is getting high for a terrible underpower load. You just about have to buy custom factory loads to get anything close to a real 10mm load. Underwood, Buffalo Bore, Grizzly and DT if they would load to their own specs. They are not even close. I am so impressed with Underwood if you talk to them you tell them I am their mouth piece in my part of the country. I would love to see Priv come up to 1275 on the 180hp. Close to the Nugent load would be fine.

Nice work, man. Thanks a bunch. Let me know if there are any details you need from me.

It would be nice to get a video of one at 1200 again and 1300 if possible. No response since I sent it all over which maybe the current videos shocked them.

I think I can swing that.

LOL.  Unless they're using a poor powder for the job I'ld say they have plenty of room to work up yet.

No response after several attempts. Oh well.

Shoot the better stuff unless you need PPU in a pinch.

I carry Underwood and shoot Priv at the range only.
Stuff shoots pretty accurately at the 10 to 20 yards I normally shoot at the range + burns clean and is easy on the wrist so---.

True. I just shot a ton of 12 gauge slugs through my Linberta tonight for the first time. In the past I just shot low brass clay loads but tonight the 3" Magnums beat my shoulder up good. I can relate to the somewhat more tame stuff when shooting a bunch!

Prvi does not have to worry about going over the standards. They should just try to come up to the lite load standard. They are what I shoot if I want an easy day at the range. its like shooting a 9mm compared to a 10mm if you shoot Prvi. Great accuracy at 10-20 yards and would do in a pinch so not a bad idea to get them if you can find them cheap but even they cannot be found cheap now.Look at gunbot.Current low for 10mm is .82 per round and it is Federal AE. Another very low power load.Seems there are only a few 10mm makers that go to full power and they are smaller ammo manafactures. I guess the big boys figure they can get just as much money for the lower power rounds that are cheaper to produce.

I hope to get some responses to the e-mails I sent but it isn't looking good. With the way they represent their Companies and how you can contact them Kevin (Underwood) and Anthony (PBR) deserve all the 10mm business they can get from the 10 crowd. Full-power 10mm ammo at a reasonable cost. Me personally I don't have any reason to buy a Double Tap or Buffalo Bore anything except to test.

Last lot of Priv I bought just a couple weeks ago was just under .50 a round ( $24 for a box of 50) and I picked up 200 rounds.

Yes I paid .42 per round for mine. That is why they barely reach 1000 fps. The slower they go the cheaper they get except now even Prvi is going up in price. Common if you csn find them for them to be .60 plus cents each.

The only reason I would buy Prvi is I need the cases because I can't find ant once fired. Any once fired cases I get go through my Redding G-Rx dies, too!

I bought a box a while back. It was decent plinking ammo at $16 and change before the Newtown crisis. My buddy liked it because he has arthritis in his hands and it didn't bother him shooting it through my G20. I wish they would load it a little bit hotter though, even up to 1030 fps or so like the Federal 180 round.
