What's everyone's opinions on it? I personally don't think it would happen, but I watched the movie "I Am Legend" the other day, and I must say, that seems more of a possibility.
Well seeing how Hornady left us 10mm guys and gals out of their ZOMBIE MAX ammo lineup I decided to take matters in my own hand! I casted these up...10mm, 45, 9mm

Here are some of the 10mm with the tainted lube...

Those bullets are awesome Shadow!
The zombie apocalypse is nothing but a sci-fi fantasy. It can't happen, and even if it did, it would be like the old west was, shorter than anyone would have thought, violent, and talked about for hundreds of years later like it was a century of our history.
It's fun to think about and pretend, but that's all it is.

Totally!
Shadow, love those flying ashtrays!
Sometime soon, the checks will stop coming. Then, they're coming for YOU!
Yep. There will be a zombie apocalypse. Drug zombies. Its happening now in small numbers. Drugged out losers breaking into homes, periodically getting shot in the process. We have had quite a few here lately in Washington.
The zombie apocalypse, I feel, is more of a metaphor for SHTF and is a "fun" way to talk about prepping.

^^^^^^^^^^^this.
Many think of it as a metaphor for what will happen when the "free stuff" runs out.
I don't know about an all out attack. What i do know is the countrys broke, federal levels, state and county as well as municiple.Drug use has turned a very strange corner.Im hearing people ingesting hand sanitizer to get a high.Just log into "Debt Clock.com".Watch that baby run up.Mind blowing. But i also smell war and or conflict.TPTB are always up to something.Watch the dollar, esp the Petro Dollar.China is buying up real estate in this country like mad.Maybe "Manderin"is a language kids will need to learn.
Has anyone seen the movie "I Am Legend"?
The book was very much better, IMHO.
Movies or books they all tell a story...entertainment or fiction or for real I just take it in not to be confused by the drama! ::)
I was just saying the the "I Am Legend" seems more plausible than a zombie apocalypse.

Has anyone seen the movie "I Am Legend"?
Just a remake of the Charleston Heston movie from the 70"s, The Omega Man. Almost identical.

Which was a remake of the 60's movie
The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price.
All of which were based on the 50's novel
I am Legend.
I haven't seen the Heston or Price movies. I did read the book, which was quite good and highly recommended.
On another forum I belong to they have a creative writing section. One of the more popular threads was member contributions to a Zombie Apocolypse tale. I found it interesting because many of the guys contributing live in my state, so they were looting the gun stores I frequent. One of them even holed up in a house about two blocks from where I live for a few nights in their story.
While I don't find it a likely scenario, it is a useful tool to facilitate consideration of how you would handle a SHTF situation. I think scenarios are critical. I think I kinda freaked my wife out a little when we were dating when I would bring up these horrific "what if's?", but she has now not only acclimated, but realized the utility, and posits her own quite frequently. Kidnapping, hostage, home invasion, major toxic gas release, economic collapse, natural disaster, we have covered most of them and have written plans for more than a few.
But, maybe we are a little nuts.

I don't know. I have my doubts. Then again not much surprises me anymore. I will agree with you that what happens in the movie
I Am Legend (I own it on DVD) probably does have more of a chance of happening.....then again, isn't that more or less the same as a zombie apocalypse? Guess the main thing is to expect the unexpected, while planning for the worst and hoping for the best. I know I have a machete laying around here somewhere...:)

I wouldn't say it's the same thing. Zombies are after one thing, "human flesh, brains, etc". Where as in I Am Legend, the infected were trying to eat whatever they could find, which resulted in cannibalism after the other sources of food had been depleated (sp?). Thats my opinion at least.
Well, what would happen if Rabies evolved a bit...
Definately a metaphor. I would have a blast in the "real life" zombieland!

I think I'm more concerned about the economic collapse. This seems like it could actually happen with the weakening dollar. Im not sure what would happen if this were to actually happen but it doesn't seem good.
Major natural catastrophe. An almost planet killer asteroid or volcanic event. Economic downturn/collapse would still take months to have a direct effect on most people.
Or a mega virus/plague. Like what wiped out 96% of the Native Americans in the years immediately prior to Plymouth Rock/Pilgrims. I mean, there was a reason we didn't colonize for 150 years after Colombus, and why the Norse never did for 1000 years. To many natives.
EMP,Middle East activity.War drums beating loud again.False flag event.

EMP.
Dark Angel was based on a world where an EMP was the kicker event.
As crazy as it may sound, I say bad or experimental drugs.
PCP comes to mind when you say drugs. I remember the hoopla over it in the 70's and early 80's.
Dang it!!!, thought it was a zombie apocalypse...................,and then I woke up. :(
I keep reading naked bloody people whack out hacking/eating others up.Couple recent cases in Calif.
I'm with the false flag event(watch the olympics - gotta get into Iran somehow). An economic collapse is inevitable. We cannot get out of the debt we have created, as hundreds of economists have already warned.
It's not that we can't. It's that it simply probably won't happen.
