Title: Sig P365 - SAS Thoughts
Post by: Kenk on March 25 2021 02:14:30 PM MDT
Any pros, and or cons for the Sig P365 - SAS? Considering picking one up this weekend, but know what to think of the sights on this weapon
Thanks

Ken

Got my standard 365 with nite sights early in 2018 and like it so much, sold 4 competing pistols soon thereafter.  Wanted to upgrade to the SAS but have read too much about after dark difficulty in use.  Played with one at a gun shop quite a bit and liked the way it worked.  I think the most effective training you can do is learn to shoot these little combat pistols like Ed McGivern where he could put 5 into a playing card in 1/2 second no aiming with a revolver!

If I was going to buy a pistol with only one dot as a sight, that dot would be at the muzzle, not the rear.

Yea, the flush-mounted FT bullseye fiber-tritium night sights seem a little odd, but could likely get used to them

I too have had the standard P365 for several years, and it's a fine CCW. The SAS sights are interesting if not gimmicky, but do result in a reduced footprint which matters alot in concealed handguns.  BUT, the ported bbl is a show stopper for me.  For me, it's unnecessary for recoil mitigation, but it can make for a more unpleasant range experience.  YMMV

The one I'm looking is not ported, but the sights are what I'm concerned about. Also the cost seems high, at least at my LGS, something like $650.00, at that price I may as well get a G29

After handling the P365 SAS this morning, as well as studying the sighting system, I'm holding off for a standard P365, or possibly the Springfield Hellcat. I've bought enough things impulsively that I won't make the same mistake on this one

I do not like the SAS but do love my XL.

Hmmmm, not ported?  An aftermarket SAS slide with the flush mounted sights without porting is available for an upgrade to the standard P365.  I wonder if this is what you've been looking at, Ken?

Well it seems several months ago, SIG stopped offering the SAS with the porting.  IFF I were going with the SAS treatment and the flush sights, this is the one I would get.
