Title: Glock report
Post by: gadabout on May 14 2021 12:09:06 PM MDT
I built a backstop for my friends target range so I had to go out today for testing. Took the Glock and a bunch of rounds that were misc. I needed to get rid of. I think most were 125g JHP but real old and I am not sure of the history but they shot good so there!! The Glock was the best I have ever shot it but I think the sights are not good as  had to aim low to hit the bull but was able to do it OK. I don't think the sights are adjustable for that but will look into it. All the rounds shot the same so I was happy with that and I think a few more times with this gun will help me like it some!!!  Craig

OK thinking I needed to try a heavier bullet I went looking for the 147g I had reloaded finding these v crown in a plastic bucket that needed wet cleaned but they came out like new. I did these for a friend with a Kel-tec something or other but I had done some for myself and wasn't sure how many I had left over or where they might be. Just found them and I have around 300 or so to play with. I will shoot a few in the Glock but I am a little concerned about a gun that only shoots one weight of bullet. I have a S&W 910s that is that way and it a pain to keep rounds separate for just that gun. Oh sights are not adjustable on either of theses guns. Not a big problem but it does bother me thinking about it. I really haven't shot the Glock enough to know what to do but I am hoping a heavier bullet might fix the problem but it may just be me needing to get more serious when shooting.  Craig

Well, well, well!! Shot the Glock and all rounds are OK, it was me after all. When I am alone with no distractions and can shoot what I want I do very good.!!! Nobody was home and I had the place to myself. The 147's shot very good but so did the 125's and 115g blue bullets. I couldn't be happier. The sights are a little strange for me with the 3 dots being kind of large but once you get used to it it's not to bad. That's it I hope everyone is having as good a day as me!!!!  Craig

Hey Craig, have never been a huge fan of the three dot sights either, however because so many pistols come with them, I've warmed up to them over the years

I shot yesterday with a guy that could shoot good and we were both in the bull all day and we shot a Browning High Power and the m17 Sig Sauer. The browning has a 3 dot sight setup but the outer dots are really small squares and the center dot is very small. I never have a problem shooting this gun. The Sig is better all around with the Romeo red dot sight you just can't miss and you know before the shot how you are going to come out as the shake is very noticeable and you can slow down and make a better shot. This was a very good time as I cleaned out the car of like 20 targets and non were bad!!!!!!  Craig

I forgot to say the Glock has pipes  for dots on the site to brighten the sites and I think that is why they are somewhat large.  Craig

Shot the Glock again today and using the sites seems to be better for me the three dots just line up and the bullseye sets on the middle dot. Don't  know why I was having so much trouble before. I had a Tanfolia witness 9mm with me and it also shot very well.  Craig

My main problem with shooting in general is when I do it good I get bored so I quit. A lot of shooting for me is 50 rounds. Oh well I am as good as I ever wanted to be!!!  Craig

Same with me, 50 or 75rd's at a time, plus it allows me to get out more often this way

BTW I was having a slight problem with some loads shooting light so I took some apart and they were very lightly loaded . Don't have a clue as to what happened but unloaded them all like 10. Was going to shoot them all but guns wouldn't eject and I wanted to know what the problem really was. All fixed now and was able to shoot other rounds without any problems.  Craig

Well went to reload the light loaded 9mm and they were really 380 after all. Boy do I feel stupid. I need better labeling and better lighting.  Craig :o :( >:( :-[ :-[ :-[

It got worse!! I tried to fix these with 9mm loading dies. I just needed to flare the case and set the bullet but tried to flare with 9mm and after resetting the die it worked but I then realized I needed to switch to 380 dies. All this for 7 rounds. Oh well got um now.  Craig
