FYI - GunfighterInc holsters having to much, or not enough retention
For anyone having issues with their GunfighterInc holsters having to much, or not enough retention, please follow the below instructions from GunfighterInc. I have two kenai chest holsters, and a Ronin OWB from GunfighterInc, and have all been tight; but are now perfect. The following refitting instructions were sent to me from Matt Forness at GunfighterInc.
Reduce Retention:
Please follow these instructions:
By using a heat source (hair dryer or heat gun) to slowly heat up the trigger detent on the backside of the holster with the firearm in the holster. After heating up the trigger detent, draw the firearm out of the holster. Then allow that area to cool. The use of a fan is highly recommended. Once the holster is cooled, reinsert the firearm to test the retention. If the holster is still too tight repeat the same steps. But the second time after heating up the trigger detent, draw, insert and draw the firearm then allow the holster to cool.
1). Heat up trigger detent on the backside of the holster. (with firearm in the holster)
2). Draw firearm from the holster.
3). Use a fan to cool the trigger detent.
4). Test holster retention.
If it is still too tight of a retention:
1). Heat up trigger detent on the backside of the holster. (with firearm in the holster)
2). Draw firearm from the holster.
3). Holster firearm.
4). Draw firearm from the holster.
5). Use a fan to cool the trigger detent.
6). Test holster retention.
NOTE: if the retention is still too tight you can add an extra draw and reinsert the firearm before allowing the holster to cool.
Increase Retention:
By using a heat source (lighter, hair dryer or heat gun) to slowly heat up the trigger detent on the backside of the holster with the firearm in the holster. After heating up the trigger detent, use your thumb and lightly press downwards on the trigger detent into the trigger well. Then allow that area to cool. Once the holster is cooled test the holster retention. If the retention is still not tight enough repeat the steps.
1). Heat up trigger detent on the backside of the holster. (with firearm in the holster)
2). press downwards on the trigger detent into the trigger well. (lightly)
3). Allow the holster to cool.
4). Test holster retention.
Note: While pressing downward on the trigger detent start with small adjustments.
Thank you for choosing Gunfighters Inc. God bless and have a great rest of your week.
If you can't get your dandy new holsters retention to the way you would like it, call Matt and he will send you another one via 2 day air, no questions asked.
