Title: 450 Bushmaster with 225gr ftx gel and velocity
Post by: Pctechdude on May 23 2021 05:01:26 PM MDT
Tried the 225gr ftx bullets in my Mossberg 450 bushmaster bolt action. Starline brass, 41gr lil gun, rem 7 1/2 primers.

Velocity
2415
2446
2428
2442
2436
Avg 2432

Sorry for the cloudiness of the clear ballistics gel block, it's been hit with quite a few rifle rounds [emoji1787] bullet penetrated to around 14 inches.

Widest expansion was . 808", shortest expansion .702"

Retained weight 140.3gr.

I haven't had the chance to work with the 450 Bushmaster...It seems that it is working at higher velocities than the 458 SOCOM.
I have done some with the 458SOCOM!  Have even done a couple of pull downs to see what was being used...LilGun is a good powder for it!

Nice write up. Way faster than the 250 grain in the .458 Socom.  Best I can get is 2025fps.
