Title: Looking for something to load!!
Post by: gadabout on May 31 2021 09:40:34 AM MDT
Came across some blue bullets that are for 9mm 135g. I remember getting these and the bag was open but don't remember anything else about shooting them. I just loaded about 63 at 5.3 power pistol and we will see how it does.  Craig

I guess I can continue on with this thread as it's for 10mm short, OK 40 cal. Doing the 135g blue I was thinking I also bought some 200g blue by mistake as I really wanted 180g but did test them and they were OK for 40 cal although a little more powerful than I would shoot on a regular basis. Will try more of those as I have 40 cal in the tumbler. I loaded at 5.3 power pistol and may go to 5.1 but will give it some thought as the blue bullets don't need power to work good. This was Nosler data. Just don't want to go to light.  Craig

Hey Craig, what is the book max power charge listed at for that weight bullet?

Boy it's like 5.8 and this is Nosler data. I like their site as it gives a "most accurate" round as well as starting and max.

it's funny because most of their data with Power Pistol ends up where I have been for like 15 years with their most accurate rounds. Craig

In discovering blue bullets yesterday I found a small box of the 125g JHP I have had for a long time. Possible they are Berry's double plated but not sure but I will load some up like 200 or so. It's a nice JHP, old school if I may be so bold. I have shot these over the years and they shoot great.  Craig

I got 100 done and have a few left like 50 or so need more brass but have it. It will be nice to see it gone and will shoot it soon. Craig

All done!! Like 175 total and it's raining like crazy of course so can't test them. Looking for something else to load. These maybe a Remington JHP can't remember but it's the copper coated with hollow point exposed but a smaller hole unlike gold dot's. Nice bullet and I did do two different lots of them. One a little hotter than the other. Craig

Craig are the Remington Golden Sabers, do they have angular nose cuts?

Hey I have bought golden sabors in the past and these might be them but I don't know about angular cuts I do think they are more factory made  than Berry's/  Craig

Did a post but lost it. These are not golden sabor as they are not gold at all but a reddish copper color.  Craig

Hey Craig, I started looking through my stash and found some GS .45ACP + P from 2013 that might help you reference them better

Yeah they are not Remington for sure. More of a reddish copper material. I may take a picture if I can.  Craig

Thats "salotta" lead in the tip for the average 40 bullet! Cant tell much from the angle.

I scored a bag of 135 HST couple years back...  Buddy bought a mixed bag of pulls in 40 online.  They sent 135G HST.. He complained & tried to return
They said keep them our mistake, replacement processing NEW order came... 135G HST AGAIN!!!

He called complained again, the apologized, refunded his purchase price AND sent what he ordered!!!

Finally they got it right, he gave me bullets!!

Nice, you probably weren't complaining 😀

I now realize this thread is kind of confusing but to make more clear  the 135g are for 9mm and the 200g are for 40 cal or 10mm.  Also the 125 JHP are also for 9mm.  Craig

Don't know if you have this or not in other areas of the country but we have a "Route 40" yard, garage sale this weekend and it is very big. I was looking at my friends sale as he has gun and ammo and some reallly old stuff. I bought a George Forman rotisserie grill for 5.00 and I just tested it for drying brass just out of the wet tumbler. It works great and has a timer so you can set it and forget it if you want to. I bought a table to put it on another 1.00.  I was looking at a Sig Sauer p365 but the guy wanted too much for it and my Taurus g2 was smaller. This sale has our end of the world tore up to say the leased.  Craig

OK back from the range. Short report the 125 9mm shot great even out of the Glock. The 200g 40 shot good. The 135g I couldn't find when I got there but found them when I got home in the car????  Craig

Hey Ken, There was a couple of strange things that happened today you may find interesting. Both guns when I was sighting on the target seemed to go off ahead of when I thought they should go off. In other words I would be saying to myself to squeeze the trigger but then the gun would fire seemingly by itself. Now I know it was me doing it and I didn't care as I was in the bullseye all day. The other thing not as interesting is the 200g rounds wouldn't fit in the mag so I shot it one round at a time without any problem but I had loaded these long for sure. Crazy day at the range that's for sure.  Craig

Well it's raining like crazy but I made it to the range between cloud bursts and shot the 135g blue 9mm. Used the Glock so I could blame anything on it but everything went OK. Oh and Ken the reloading bench is for reloading not reading. Ha Ha,  Craig

Still crappy weather but want to reload something anyway. Now the age old question what too reload??? I have 9mm brass prepped as well as 40 cal and even some 10mm. So sky's the limit. I really need to shoot like 500 to 1000 rounds to even have room for any new loads but I have been shooting a lot more lately.  Maybe I will reload something and shoot later.  Craig

Well I have been taking a break for any loading for a little while.  The brass prep and loading of the 223 / 5.56 had taken a serious toll on my wrist and hands.  Bothe hands have been swollen for over a month now and my little finger on my left hand has a numbness an tingling ever since.  I may have irritated the nerves and or irritated the finger and wrist joints.  While it seems to be getting a little better, I am always using my hands and the inflammation tends to get aggravated more as the days wear on and into the night.
I may have to schedule a Dr. appt. to see if an MRI or ultra sound might show if something else is messed up...

Hey Wade, I've got my share of stuff going on too, will be in Prayer regarding your hand numbness and or other issues
Take Care my Friend!

Well taking a break sounds good and I am going on vacation next week but I tried to primer some 9mm and ran out of primers so had to stop anyway. It does cause some minor confusion as I now lower the powder for mag pistol primers and it's another level of confusion for me. Oh well rumor has it it might be getting better for supplies as I just read Remington is up and running 24/7 making ammo and I would think it would take some of the pressure off. We will see!!!  Craig

Things are coming back slowly as well as a bit more expensive

Just got back from the local store and they had quite a bit of loaded rounds for sale. A lot of Remington and Federal and others but very deep in quantity. I hope when the sales slow more primers and powder will show up.  Craig
