Title: 10mm Acknowledged in American Rifleman
Post by: sqlbullet on April 10 2013 07:49:05 AM MDT
The April 2013 issue of American Rifleman has a large article on the Colt M1911 and the calibers it has been chambered in by the factory over the years.

The 10mm got a one paragraph mention with no meaningful technical details, but the large glossy photo for the title page of the article as a Delta Elite.  Nice to see such prominent press for our favorite round and one of it's best platforms.

Interesting.  I was just talking to a person in guns sales at the local Cabelas this weekend and he mentioned that there has been a recent surge in 10mm firearm sales.  I wonder if this article may be partially responsible for the surge.

You didn't miss anything.  The first part ended with (paraphrase) " and that gave us the 10mm".  The second part basically started "And the 10mm gave us the 40 S&W, now lets talk about it for the rest of the article.

I was very disappointed.

I think I'm sensing some increase in interest in the 10mm.  I think the cartridge almost died when the FBI abandoned it, and in particular, when the cartridge manufacturers were downloading it to .40S&W levels.  But there are several full-spec loads available now, and I think at least a few people are starting to take notice of its awesome ballistics.

Part 2 of the Handloader "Cartridge Board" article is all about the .40 S&W... if you're still interested, I'll scan it for you. BTW... Handloader magazine is published every other month so there's no March issue.
