Title: 1911 Slide milled for a red dot
Post by: dredonn on January 28 2022 06:10:40 AM MST
Hey fellas, I have a 1911 I'm looking to get milled to put a red dot on it, the company in my area that does it is charging $300 which includes cerakoteing the slide. My question is, is that a high price, not sure if I want to spend that much on that gun.

I would say that?s not bad , I contacted a local ceracoater and he quoted me $300 just to do a tube red dot sight.

I guess the question is, as you put it ?not sure if I want to spend that much on that gun? When you consider $300.00 for the slid cut and cerakoteing, plus, say another 3 + for the optic, thats a substantial investment. If you love the weapon and plain to keep it, I?d say, go for it

I plan on keeping it, just wanted to know if I was getting over charged, as long as it's done right and looks good I can live with it. Thanks for the info.

Does that price include the plate, or just the cut/finish.

If you don't need cerakote and already have/don't need the plate:  https://zrtacticalsolutions.com/shop/1911-rmr-cut/

$150 and buy a bottle of cold blue for $20:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SOUKFLW/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_3569SNKSMHSBQXB9BMAQ

You could save yourself a couple hundred bucks or so and go this route, dove tail mount.
