I thought most shot Steel case? For my Mosin I just buy the big tins of the cheap surplus of Copper washed Steel.

Steel case for AK's work fine. The imported brass are more of a combat round and shoot well in cold weather.Just a sign of are crazy ammo crises.

One of my shooting friends has a bunch of brass cased surplus 7.62X54R.  It shoots very, very much better than the steel cased stuff.  Like the groups are half the size.

But it was a good bit more money, and both will easily hit a melon at 100 yards, so for plinking ammo, doesn't matter that much to me.

The best 7.62X54R surplus I ever got was the green lacquered steel cased Czech silvertip light ball. It is ALMOST as accurate as my reloads. My SKS has only shot 7.62X39 Wolf steel cased (Not surplus) or my reloads. There is no shortage on my reloads, because I stocked up on EVERYTHING in November before Obummer got re-elected, figuring a second round of panic buying/hoarding would happen..........for the SECOND time!!
