I have run everything from 18.5 up to 24 lb springs.

I have settled on 18.5 with a flat bottom firing pin stop.

I assume you are asking about the recoil spring?
20 Lb in my Kimber
24 Lb in my RIA - not yet tested.  I still had random lockbacks with a 22 Lb spring but not nearly as frequent as I did with the 20 lb spring.

Good catch on that.  I am speaking about recoil spring as well.

Mainspring I run a 23 except for one gun that has a 25.

We have both a DW Bruin and a Guncrafter 1911 No Name in 10mm. Have never messed with varying mainspring weights in all of our years of shooting 1911s. Have over time messed with firing pin stop profiles and varying recoil spring weights.  Run a 20lb in the Bruin and a 22 in the GI gun.

I installed a GI standard weight main (hammer) spring in my RIA.  It was prone to failure to fire (light primer strikes) with the supplied mainspring which is obviously weaker than the GI spring.

My understanding is that a GI standard mainspring is 23 lb.  No more problems after installing the standard mainspring.  It did increase the trigger pull some.

For 10mm, I?m currently running a 25# MS, with a 20# Recoil Spring in standard Government model(5? slide). It?s not really recommended to go over a 20# recoil spring, since going higher can cause frame battering and damage when returning into battery. I?m giving serious consideration to upping the MS to 28#, since my guns are still throwing the empties over 10? feet.
