Title: My two 10MM revolvers
Post by: 10MMGary on June 18 2013 09:26:16 AM MDT
I posted one of these photos in a reply to a post in the Semi-Auto forum as a result of a question I was ask, but figured I may as well post them both here. As I am sure everyone already knows the Ruger Buckeye is a Blackhawk conversion type single action that with a cylinder change fire either the 10MM Auto cartridge or the 38-40 WCF cartridge. I am also sure that everyone here knows that the S&W 610 will fire the 40 S&W cartridge as well as the 10MM auto cartridge that it is actually cambered for and uses moon clips(which in my opinion are better/faster than speed loaders). Both of these revolvers are more accurate than I will ever be. Thanks for looking, Gary

I got that bottom one and with a little help from my friends on here it shoots like a rocket. A 38-40 with a 155 Barnes X is a screamer at 100 yards. Needless to say it is not the factory loads your can buy. They run 900fps and the ones I got are running 1750-1950 depending on which load I shoot. What are you shooting in your 38-40?

Mine(38-40 WCF hand loads)are no where near that velocity, please fill me in on that load(PM will work if you prefer). I of course understand all the disclaimers and warnings and hold you harmless for any info you care to share with me. When one is headed into uncharted waters with hand loading all bets are off, one buys ones ticket and takes ones chances. I am using Remington 165gr JHP Golden Saber and Winchester 175 gr Silvertip projectiles along with virgin Starline brass I purchased many years back, In spite of what has been experienced/noticed with some Starline brass I have found this particular batch to be extremely strong and have yet to suffer a stuck case or cracked shoulder or case mouth. I stopped at(actually backed down)to the 1100-1200 fps range when I found the particular sweet spot in regards to accuracy for my gun. Thanks in advance for any info you care to share,

I'm really liking your Ruger and that's probably one pistol when shooting 10mm that will just keep going with no ill affects with heavy loads. Congrats you've got a couple of nice revolvers.

bout two weeks till the bidding ends, course I already have a 610 and a para P-16/40 with a bar-sto 10mm bbl, love it, 16 rds of 10 is alot of fun, I have heard of para's cracking in the frame so I keep the loads close to factory specs, wouldnt mind an EAA witness. sooooooo many guns so little time ;D
