Title: GAS Ammo test
Post by: Intercooler on June 28 2012 06:49:24 AM MDT
Finally. I don't have it yet, but Bill from GAS Ammo e-mailed me last night and said they have it now. Hopefully next week I have it in my hands for testing. Their claim is 180gr@ 1200 FPS... see if it does that!

5% off using code "Bill".

Hard for me to get excited about a 180gr at less than +1300fps.

I get excited about any new stream of 10mm ammo that pops up. If you have been in 10's long it is hit or miss! Reed's I cancelled several times due to them not having stock to ship. Georgia Arms seems to always be out of components on their website. Then you have BVAC maybe not being able to figure out how to load real 10mm ammo and taking chances. Options are a very good thing and the paper doesn't know the difference between 1000 FPS and 1400 FPS.

If the GAS 10mm pans out it will be one of the better deals for real 10mm for plinking. Best right now is currently the HPR when it is on sale at $21.99 a box. Locally I can get Armscor for $26.99 a box and no shipping and it's real 10mm.

All those beat up the guns more than needed for paper punching. My bulk is 180gr American Eagle at $12.00 bx/50.

Or not! I got a cancellation e-mail from them today. They said they don't have any now but do have HP's. I tried to order on their website and their is no HP option.

If I ever can get this ordered and tested they are not a serious option for 10mm ammo. Got a note yesterday from Georgia Arms they only have 50 packs of 180gr and no 165's still.

My Brother.

I did finally get GAS Ammo ordered but JHP this time. The elusive TBird 10mm was orered too on my FedEx account and they say it is 1275 FPS out of a Delta.

Yea it is nice! The .44 Magnum Federal is testing out pretty darn strong and at $20 a box it's great in the Redhawk!

Guys, when I first bought my Delta Elite back in the mid 80's. Hornady had a a 180 JHP round that would easily do better than 1200 fps. They were in oblong white 20 rd boxes and were hot. I still have 2 unopened boxes of the stuff for emergency use. I don't know what Hornady or the other ammo makers are making these days since I load my own and am not a velocity nut.  :)

True.  But for me, I don't paper punch in my 10mm shooting (that's what my 22LR is for).  With my 10s I prefer to blow stuff up and knock stuff over.  For me that means 180gr @ +1300fps among other assorted varieties.  If my guns (limited to Glock platforms) get beat up beyond recognition it gives me a reason to jump on the Gen4 bandwagon.  So far no such luck.  Gotta love the Glocks.
