On a whim I purchased 100 rounds of Underwood 165 grain total metal jacket. I also picked up a 22 pound recoil spring assembly for my Glock 20 (SF).
This ammo ran fine through my Glock. My son and I alternated mags. We both agreed the ammo felt powerful but was tamed by the Glock platform and the 22 pound weight of the RSA. The only issue I experienced was the slide locking back on one occasion with one round left in the mag, but I don't attribute this to the ammo.
My son and I then fired some hot .45 ACP ammo through my Colt Combat Commander. We agreed the Colt was a bit more punishing to shoot, but we also agreed if the UW ammo had been fired through the Colt the recoil would have been more severe, comparatively speaking.
So...I gotta give credit where it's due. Good job Underwood.
This is a recent purchase, so I am assuming the 165 grain TMJ is still loaded to 1400 fps. It certainly felt like it may have been.
Good to hear! Still 1400 FPS last time I checked a couple of weeks ago. Have you tried PBR's ammo yet? I'm just waiting for the 135 and 155's to be released and I will test them.
Not yet on the PBR. That's a good thought, and when the cash flow once again permits I will be interested in trying out their 200 grain XTP load.
4949 I am just curious, is what Gen is the Glock. Like you mentioned it simply could of been a mag issue. I bounce around on spring's. If I am shooting 135,155 Underwoods I use the 22lb. 165's,180's I use the 20lb or even the stock. Outside the stock setup I went with a Wolff steel guide rod and various springs. Seems like a winner, at least for me. Got to love how the Glock soaks it up. I love my 1006, but in terms of recoil, Glock wins hands down.
Maybe I will have to get me a Glock. Wait... have they changed that grip yet :-X
Glock is a no none sense combat pistol. Regardless of grip interpretation it is a proven combat pistol. It grew on me and I can tell you at least with the 10mm cartridge, it's well worthy. But it all depends on what type of range shooting one is doing. If your just punching paper, sure, a Witness or Smith or Fushion is fine. If one is training in terms of qualification weather LEO or Civilian, Glock wins in 10mm. It is a combat pistol. Now, If only Sig could make one.

Pacap, it is a gen 3. I have a 20 pound RSA, but it didn't work with some Underwood 180 tmj I had put through it. The 20 pound spring was good with Hornady mid range 180 though, and even functioned with the weak PPU. I got the 22 pound spring because I wanted to try it with the full power stuff to see if it would do better than the 20 pound RSA. I don't know, I am starting to wonder if maybe I didn't get a bad batch of 180 grain UW. The 165 was great though. I will try out some different loads with the springs in the future.
Edit: Oh.... IC, have you fired a Glock in 10mm yet?
Never have. Nobody around here or that visits the range has one. Soon I will go to the indoor range and rent one for $10 and see. I sold my Match and the Razorback will be gone by the end of the week. The Gen4 issues are enough to make me worry before even testing it. I don't think I could give it a real test because they require you to shoot their ammo (Remington 10mm).

The Glock 20 SF and Glock 29SF (SF= Short Frame) this yield a .3mm shorter reach to the trigger.
The Glock 20 and Glock 29 gen 4 guns have changeable grip panels on the rear back strap, some are even being made with beaver tails. They did also change the recoil system as well.
So to answer your question? Yes! :o They did change the Grip! ::)

Love my 20 and 29... Both Gen 3 SF. They just plain work and are plenty accurate. Being able to swap barrels/calibers quickly and affordably is huge as well
