Title: DRT 9mm 85gr Frangible Composite
Post by: Intercooler on December 12 2013 05:04:30 PM MST
Today I went into Dick's looking for some rifle ear plugs and they had some ammo (shocking). After looking it over the only one that peeked my interest was this one. The center portion is composite!

I read an article about those sometime back, looked to be an powdered core...May have a thin aluminum cover over the powdered core.
QuoteThe bullet consists of a powdered core encased in a copper jacket that peels open upon penetration, exposing and dispersing the powdered core, creating a massive internal wound cavity. Centrifugal force aids in the fragmentation of the bullet core in the wound cavity.

here is a youtube from tnoutdoors9
