Title: Remington UMC 180gr FMJ Pull-Down
Post by: Intercooler on December 12 2013 05:11:28 PM MST
My PA gun store had plenty of Remington including 10mm. I haven't shot these in a good bit and we didn't do the pull-down yet. I'm pretty sure it's canister powder but figured I would get things started.

The data from past testing shows 1098 FPS. Today (EAA Pro 4.75") 1133, 1144, 1162, 1151, 1141. Average = 1146.2 FPS/ 525 LBS. I will plug this into the sheet until the next round.

Those are good numbers. David got 1105 out of his Glock.

It would be a great Walmart option if they could offer it in the $25 range.

BPS in Baton Rouge usually carries them most of the time...My Wal Mart never ever carried 10mm... ???
In fact none of my local outlets ever carried 10mm with the exception of one LGS that got a box of Winchester 200gr Black Talon many moons ago...I bought that box.

That was the reason I started handloading my own from day one! ;D

This was the first 10mm I shot when i qualified it on my carry license except for a couple doubletap wfngc 200gr. It felt pretty good since my regular guns are all 9mm compacts or subcompacts. I paid $38/50 at the peak for two boxes since I needes it for my qualification. Now that I've shot 180gr tmj underwood it is mild haha.  One of my favorite feeling loads is still the winchester ranger 230gr+p that goes about 985fps in a 1911 5", solid without being too snappy. Miss my 1911.  I'm rambling now. Lol.

I put some through the Hunter 6" barrel to see if they increased but not really. I guess this powder is pretty  much done at 4.75".

EAA Hunter 6" 1174, 1146, 1156, 1139. Average = 1153.75 FPS/ 532 LBS

My reloads with 7.3gr's WSF1 showed the same thing showing no gain in the longer barrel.

EAA Hunter 6" 1144, 1117, 1105, 1105, 1109, 1097. Average = 1112.83 FPS/ 495 LBS
EAA Limited 4.75" 1119, 1090, 1071, 1112, 1074. Average = 1093.2 FPS/ 478 LBS

Wouldn't happen to be from Reddings Hardware in Gettysburg would it? They're about the only one in lower PA that everytime I'm there they have a pile of Remington 10mm!

I like the Remington ammo. It is consistent and functions well. I too wish it were a bit cheaper. It always seems to be above 30 bucks when it should be between 20 - 25.

Everyone should write Remington and tell them at the very least change to brass instead of Nickel for a price reduction.

One thing about the remington heads on the 180...  ( also use them for reloads )

They all have a bump on the top like the metal was poured into a hp... I know its only a manf method and the remington 180 are VERY consistant in weight and accurate.  Not really a complaint, just an observation.

The Remington would be a great buy at $20 to $25.

I added the Remington UMC 180gr FMJ Pull-Down data and pictures to Intercooler's original first post to make easier to find...
I was surprised to see the Power Pistol powder being used.
Enjoy!

8.0gr's would push it to about the perfect 10mm practice load 1225/600.
