Title: LAX Ammo 180gr reloads
Post by: Intercooler on December 21 2013 05:27:32 AM MST
I needed a new ammo can  ;D The rating is only 1040 FPS but they have good reviews. These aren't available very often or for long when posted. Hopefully they will be here next week to see what they are all about.

Hopefully next year I can get out of this State and pick up something.  Also hopefully we see the Xtreme line rolling in because that's me# ;D

I've used LAX before for 45acp and the reloads were very good.

Saw the 10mm ad, and if you use gunbot, you'll see NEW 10mm for 2cents per round cheaper... not overly happy where from, but they are new cases and I reload so they'll be same brand and once fired after I use them (instead of mixed/unknown)

Ammo cans that they give you are plastic and can be picked up at many places for $5-6.

Commercial reloads, not bad if they have some good brass... ::)

Received them today and I must say I'm impressed! They all look great and the brass passes for being new. I have purchased brand new never fired rounds that didn't look as good. No bulges, etc... I can see. It's mainly brass with some nickel plated mixed in. The ammo can isn't all that but does have a seal in the lid, plastic construction and a collapsing handle.

The rounds look excellent but the pictures don't do them justice!

These will be great for paper punching if they hit 1050-1080 FPS.

On par with PPU pricing but with better brass and bullets.

passed the gauge drop test , all fired fine.

What did you think about the ammo? They look pretty darn good to me. I'm sure they won't be very hot but a good option.

What did you think about the ammo? snip.
Felt about the same as Amer Eagle.... good plinkin ammo.  Not hot by any means.
100% in a stock g20, everyone went bang!

I ran these today with the 4.75" and 6" setups. They shot great and if/when they are in stock again, I will be on them! They are pretty darn good power for plinking because you can shoot a ton without beating you or your pistols up in an extended session. They are about as accurate as any other target round as well.

  EAA Limited 4.75" 1105, 1112, 1151, 1126, 1181, 1144. Average =  1136.5 FPS/ 516 LBS
  EAA Hunter 6" 1219, 1196, 1206, 1191, 1175, 1144. Average = 1188.5 FPS/ 565 LBS

Those are not bad and fairly consistent!  Powder gropped charges and different casing makes could account for some velocity fluctuations!  ???

That's my train of thought as well. Can't wait to see what you find inside!

IC, how much were those per round?  LAX always removes out of stock listings and I forgot.

The fps data looks to be on par with Remington UMC but I am guessing for much cheaper.  Looks like a good target round and I must stock up if they do another run since 10mm range ammo is hard to find right now.

thanx

It's going to be a while! They told me it will be 6-8 weeks waiting on powder  :o
