Title: Federal 180 gr. Bonded JSP
Post by: enidpd804 on January 13 2014 09:47:10 PM MST
The ATK rep showed me a new round for the 10mm.  He said that they are responding to the demand from customers and that the round is rated at 1275 fps.  He told me that customers are tired of 10mm loaded to .40 level.  They had a G20 to try the ammo, but I didn't get a chance to actually shoot any.

Granted, it's a JSP but I'd say it's a great start.  Someone is listening.

at least they are listening.  If people wanted a defense round that has .40 ballistics, they would have bought a .40 handgun.

just hope they price it to sell and not sit on shelves collecting dust.

I'm trying to get it. I got on the notification lists a couple months back but nothing so far.

Sounds like a good "woods" load.

It just might be the ticket for night time coyote hunting use in my backup.  8)

Is it offered for sale yet?

Defense loads don't really NEED to be any more powerful than .40 S&W. The extra power mostly just results in greater recoil and flash with little gain in tissue disruption. That extra power can be really useful for a JSP, though.

I am really excited about this load and I wish that they would make the projectile available as a component. Being Federal, though, that seems unlikely.

I had the chance to shoot some in a G20, but this really obnoxious Canadian news team (Sun-something) pushed ahead of me and started interviewing the rep.  So, all I can say is I saw the box and fondled the rounds.   :(

My guess is 1275 out of 6" barrel since that looks like what the nra rep was shooting jt from at that booth.

Getting in the way repeatedly and being quite impolite, from my persepective.  I was in line to shoot the Beretta pistols and they literally pushed me aside to talk to the rep.   >:(

Sun something?

No.  I'm afraid not.  I got the ATK Rep's card.  I'm thinking of asking him for some to review.  The problem is it's hard to put a LE spin on a JSP.

Next order through my Bro I will try to order these. I might have a better shot at getting something new than the existing stuff like American Eagle  ???

This load would be great for the Alaska Wildlife troopers.

The standard road troopers still need to carry hollowpoints, as they tend to shoot some people.

Trop has some AE, but it's $39/box.  RareAmmo has PMC Bronze for $33.
