Title: The 10mm in novels
Post by: harrygunner on January 25 2014 01:53:54 PM MST
Been reading the "Bourne" series written by Eric Van Lustbader. (I didn't like Ludlum's writing. Van Lustbader does a better job, in my opinion.)

In one novel, a woman had a Glock 20 and was written as being a 10mm. A later book in the series has a character with "... a wicked-looking EAA 10mm Hunter Witness ...".

Anyone encountered mention of 10mm guns in fictional books?

Yes...I believe one of Stephen Hunter's novels (Point of Impact) has the Shooter using a "confiscated" FBI 10mm Smith 1000 series.

I'll see if I can let the writer know his references to the 10mm are appreciated. Entertainment could help make the round more popular.

(Unfortunately. I'll also have to let him know Heckler & Koch does not make a 1911. That showed up in the same story with the Glock 20. Oh well.   :) )

A 10mm P7M8 might be an interesting piece.

You might need a hand truck to carry it around, but it would be interesting nonetheless.

Larry Corriea (sp?) of Monster Hunter International fame is a big 10mm fan.

You are correct... I've read that novel a few times.... he uses Nick Memphis' 10mm to kill a hog, which he later eats. In the book, Bob Lee Swagger is written to ponder, before the shot, whether the "new fangled FBI round indeed had the punch they say it did" ... or something to that effect.  He was not let down... but the hog WAS let down  ;-P

You know that's a little funny because I loaned mine out to a friend along with one other book and he finally returned it just a few months ago after having it for nearly 5 years...
