Title: Shotgun Sports
Post by: Geeman on February 09 2014 02:44:37 PM MST
Another one of my obsessions is field trial spaniels, as well as photographing them.  As I was combing through the pics of the macro stuff on the other thread, I came across this shot.

When I was going through the pics at the end of the day, I remembered that particular bird fell to the gun.  Then I noticed the smoke/heat off the gun, then I noticed the wad in the air.  That would mean the shot was in the air, and if you liik carefully there is a smudge about 2 feet in front of the wad.

I screwed around with the contrast of the photo to try to bring out the payload in the air.

I keep hearing the term "string" but that's not really the way it appears.

That was a field trial around Lima, OH in 2007.

Just for reference, the shutter speed was 1/1000s and I'd guess muzzle velocity around 1400 fps or so.
