Title: Guns You Would Like To See Chambered In 10mm
Post by: 4949shooter on February 23 2014 03:53:23 AM MST
What guns would you like to see chambered in 10mm? It could be revolvers, semi auto's, rifles, subguns, etc..

Me? I would like to see an H&K USP in 10mm (H&K really dropped the ball with that one).

I would like to see Springfield bring the Omega back.

I would like to see a beefed up Browning High Power in 10mm.

What ideas do you guys have?  8)

I have my list and beat them on it every chance I get.

M&P, CZ, XDm and even Walther since I like the grip.

I forgot about the long awaited CZ!

I shot a 9mm Walther a few months ago and liked the grip as well.

I've long wished for a 10mm lever action carbine length rifle but I doubt I'll ever see one. I'd like to see Ruger bring back the 10mm to its production in the Blackhawk and GP-100 and SP-101. Not many modern pistols turn me but I wouldn't mind if Sig put one out in one of their steel guns.

A lever action rifle would make sense. So would more revolvers.

Ever since being a teenager I have wanted a Blackhawk.

Yes, on the lever action. Also: PS90, KRISS, M1 Carbine, Kel Tec Sub 2000, Steyr Aug, UMP, Ruger carbine like their .44 mag semi auto carbine. XDm, more 1911s, especially double stack.

I'd also really like a company like Kel Tec or Magpul to design a new bullpup carbine.

When Charter introduced their .40 S&W revolver, I was very surprised that they didn't offer a 10mm, as easy as it would have been.

A Glock carbine would be cool, Or even a Glock subgun.

I have often thought about changing one of my Colt Commanders over to 10mm.

How about a 10mm Desert Eagle? It shouldn't be too difficult for IMI to caliber down from .50AE/.44 Mag.

Marlin used to make the Camp Carbine chambered in 45ACP and 9mm...I would like that rifle chambered in 10mm using the Glock magazines.  These are smooth and compact rifles with nice lines.

Then there is the Ruger Deerfield carbine chambered in 44...

The HK MP-5 chambered in 10mm remake would be a great piece...

Then there is the VLTOR remake of the Bren Ten FORTIS
(http://www.tactical-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/vltor-fortis-and-bren-10.jpg)

Then as mentioned the CZ SHADOW beefed up and chambered in10mm
(http://czcustom.com/images/products/detail/91705CZ75Shadow_1.jpg)

S&W M&P 10mm, Taurus could make 10mm model.

It would be nice to see Dan Wesson bring back their big-bore revolvers, especially one in 10mm.  To be paired with a stainless Wild West levergun in 10mm too.  I'd love to see Ruger do a Blackhawk, Flat Top, or a GP-100 factory-version in this caliber.  The Vltor Bren would actually be cool to own, if they ever decide to actually market it!  There's any number of autos, which could fill-the-bill:  FN, Beretta, HK, Walther, and Sarsilmaz.

It helps to ask manufactures, sometimes they listen.

When Les Baer refused to make me a (fully pre paid) stainless 10mm Commanche, I took a shot and asked Keith Lawton at DW if I could get a non bobtailed Commander built. Much to my surprise, he said yes. After discussing my wants, Keith said that they could accommodate them all and the rest is history.

I chose to have DW build me a stainless 10mm non bobtailed Commander with a set of buried adjustable Bomars with green front and yellow rear Trijicon night sights and a fully ramped barrel. I add flat S&A magwells to all of my 1911's (Commanders one and all), this one received the same. I just can't shoot a bobtail 1911, the grip is too short for me in all the wrong places.

I also had Paul Persinger make me a set of smooth Ivory stocks with over sized double diamonds, at first he resisted making them because he didn't think they would turn out. After completing them he was so impressed by the way they felt in the hand he asked if he could offer the style to others.

When I thanked Keith Lawton for the tremendous job they did in making my 10mm, I asked if he would let the guys in the shop know how pleased I was with it, he said he'd pass the info on "to the person" that built it. I was so blown away by that, that I'm ashamed to say that I forgot to ask who did build it for me. This gun's fit and finish was so much nicer than either of my Les Baer's that I sold both of them. Nuff said.

I sent Keith a pic showing my Custom DW along with the guns that it had replaced as my carry options.

From top to bottom and left to right.
A Dan Wesson factory Custom non bobtailed 10mm Commander with low mount Bomars and yellow rear/green front Trijicon inserts.
A Les Baer Concept VIII Commanche .45 with the usual.
A stainless Colt Gold Cup Commander .45, a true G.C., not a custom run.
A Witness Carry Comp .45 with a compact slide and a full profile compensator, in wonder finish.
A stainless P14 .45 with a P13 top end.
A stainless S&W. I don't recall if this one is a 4566 or if it's one of five 1066's.
Then some added eye candy in the form of a Damascus Tuxedo Godfather, a first run Godfather, an HK tanto auto, a Microtech Mini Socom auto, a pair of Italian 18" switchblades from my collection, one in stag and the other in honey horn. A Wilson Combat Practical holster in sharkskin, a Surefire Centurion C3 flashlight and last but not least, a Cold Steel original model Tanto.

That DW Custom is outstanding.  My brother has a Les Baer Monolith in 10mm with the full dust-cover.  For some reason, Les Baer has a repugnance towards the 10mm cartridge, and won't build any more.  At least, that's my understanding.  I think the same can be said for Ed Brown who only lists guns in .45ACP.  I have a Dan Wesson Razorback, it's a quality arm, and built to a higher-scale, than my Kimber Target II.  [see below:]

Next:  Kimber Gold Match II, not a 'safe queen'.  Grip discoloration is from using Hogue rubber-grips, which I don't recommend.

Bottom, a brace of 610's.  Have since switched to VZ's for N-frames:

+1 on the Omega! Took a nice whitetail with one back in the 90's. Sold it, of course! I would be happy to lay out $1200 for a new Omega!!!!
