Title: My New Blaster
Post by: yankee2500 on March 01 2014 05:18:52 PM MST
I bought an STI Shadow 3" 40S&W and had the barrel reamed to 10mm, the barrel came back Friday and got it put together today and put some rounds through it.
I started out with some LAXAmmo 180gr and had a couple times the round didn't feed all the way in to chamber but this got better with some more shooting, then I ran some Underwood 220gr hard cast and had the same issue a couple times again. I polished (the already shiny) feed ramp and I went back to the LAX 180s and they feed and fired fine as did some Undarwood 155 JHPs and 180 JHPs.
I need to finish fitting the EGW OS firing pin stop and put that in and then I'll put some more ammo through it in the next couple days to make sure it runs right.

I guess you can tell I like things that are a little different.  ;D

3" 10mm Yum-Yum!  ;D you sir have great taste. The only things I'd change for my personal taste, no roll marks and a solid black trigger ......... Nevertheless a fine firearm, Congrats!!

I may have the roll marks removed but my plan is to have the whole gun hard chromed, so it will match my other two STIs the 9mm Escort & 45acp Lawman.

I had two .40 STIs and a Kimber 10 mm that I have a .40 barrel for and have found that they all seem to have tight chamber throats.  They needed about .0045 additional chamber length.
