Title: Winchester 155gr Silvertips
Post by: Intercooler on March 22 2014 09:58:25 AM MDT
Sounds really interesting! Reed's Ammo offered at one point in time this bullet at 1400 FPS. Anyone ever get a box or test it? Is the .40 bullet still available as a component?

We just reloaded a ton of the 175 grain win silvertip using bluedot and x800 in win brass. We were getting 1275-1325 fps all day long. We loaded about 50 with win 231 and while they were less fps they were dead accurate. I imagine the 155s can easily get to 1400. The 175 silvertips is one of the most accurate loads for 10mm I've done. This is shooting 5-25 yards out of glock 20 and 29 stock barrels.  As a off the shelf ammo the 175 is highly regarded. Wish I had some silvertip 155 to reload, have tons of nosler for that grain.

Few dummy rounds left over

It seems that the Winchester Silvertips are still being produced as components but seem to be on backorder.  One thing is they are expensive, $46 per 100 for the 175grain and $47 per 100 for the 155grain.
