Post by: SagSlim59 on May 14 2014 09:11:36 PM MDT
There was a thread here about someone that had a good reload for the 38-40? They even sold a few rounds
On this website.
I think McQuade mentioned it but can't seem to find the right area...any help would be great....Thx

If I recall it was member DM1906 that had some serious 38-40 loadings.  They were near 44 mag strength and geared for the Ruger Buckeye.  Some of his post can be found here; http://10mm-firearms.com/10mm-revolvers/blackhawks/ (http://10mm-firearms.com/10mm-revolvers/blackhawks/)

Yes, DM1906 has created some wonderful stuff to help us realize the true and full potential of our Buckeyes. He's a great guy to deal with also!

McQuade...
..good to know. I have been reading up on the 38-40 round, and it sounds like a good whitetail round?!
I also suspect that a typical 38-40 round may not chamber well in the blackhawk? ......true?

No problem clambering rounds in my shooter but I bought it used and it had some work done to it and I've done more. I had one that was unfired and I couldn't pull the trigger on so I let a friend have it. Never chambered a round in it but I haven't heard any problems with them.
