Yup the 22A gave up the Ghost. I had a feeling the Aluminum frame would die at some point like has happened to others. It was weird, I was on shot 6 or 7 of a 10 round mag and felt the plastic grip spread apart at the back. I was like that is weird and has never happened. Put the last 3 through and same thing... pulled the barrel and it was a two-piecer!! So guess buying another plinker moves up to the top now. I will send this one to Smith if they will do something and sell it when I get it back. I'm leaning towards a 617 Steel revolver or another Semi that has a robust frame.

Wow. :o Time to test their lifetime warranty, I guess.
Good Luck in the dealings with Smith. Any guestimate on how many rounds it took for that to happen?
Yea we shall see. I'm not the original owner but I purchased this tonight new:

I owed Ruger one after replacing my new Redhawk 30 years later.
I'm bad about round counts but bet I put 10k through it easily. I know I bought a 5k case and it's gone plus another 1k Stingers, several boxes of 525 plus ammo test packs of 50-100.
You will like that Ruger. One of my favorite guns.
Say, you didn't mention what you did to your crony? Couldn't worse than what I did to mine today.......I am a stoopid. :'(
Did you shoot it? :o

Heh.....I need to learn how to post a photo on this site. ;D
I use photobucket. Create account, upload picture, copy image code, paste image code into text box. This code, minus the spaces in the brackets, displays the picture.

It's crazy I put Nuclear stuff through my 10's without issue and my .22LR breaks. LOL

Thanks, I'll try that sometime as I have a Photobucket account I haven't used in sometime. Or course, this incident wasn't one of my finest moments. :D
Unboxing of the new plinker this morning.

Should have gotten one in the beginning instead of the learning experiences with the P22 and 22A-1. I get the 1006 Tuesday and plan on working them both hard. I think I want to do a Chrony of 5" versus 5" this first time.
Congrats......looks like a big week ahead for you. ;D
For sure! The Wife leaves for a week Thursday so it could be hard on the ammo stash :o
I know people talk about grip angles, I've always been amazed by the Ruger 22...
Good luck, it should be loads of fun! 8)
Thanks! It feels pretty good to the hand. Just wish we had some different 10mm ammos to test.
Your gonna love it.Handled one at range and i was sold.On my list.
Good job on the Ruger purchase. That's something you can hand down to your kids one day, not because their an heirloom, but because they're so durable. I've got one from the late 60's that is one of the most accurate guns in my safe.
Going to use the Mark III for Chrony setup today. See how much if any the velocity changes from the 22A. First 500 rounds through this one today!
That Ruger will last you your lifetime.
Congrats on the new plinker! Love the stainless steel. I doubt you'll ever wear out that one!
I have a Ruger also love shooting it but cuss every time I have to break it down and do a full clean on it! That blasted back spring is a real PITA!!!

Man ain't that the truth!
I don't shoot mine enough and hence clean enough to remember the "trick to getting it back together.
When I was 14 I shot a brick or two every weekend and breakdown and reassembly was a piece of cake.
Then a few years later it was fast cars and girls. Guns took a back seat. It was as while before I got back into shooting.
Man, that was over 40 yrs ago, I can't remember details such as Ruger reassembly.
