Didn't go this year. Met Jay Leno during one of the shows. Carmel by the Sea and Big Sur are special places. You're likely to be staying at a hotel in Carmel. Big Sur is spread over tens of miles to the south.
A must see.

The Ferrari Daytona will always be special. The roads near the coast would be quite the sight on the days before and after the weekend as exotic car owners drove to and from the event.
I used to live in a place where one could see a rare Daytona, an Enzo one time, several Maserati, a Lotus or two and a half dozen Porsche Panamera on the way to the mall.
I miss the cars and the ability to drive them the way they need to be driven. It's obvious speeding tickets are a major source of revenue around here. Even on drives through the mountains away from everyone, there are cops in the bushes waiting for someone to be going five MPH over. No tickets yet, but it makes me want to build a track on my land.

I know. But, like all things it can be overdone. When residents start to feel like prey and revenue replaces safety as the reason for limits, the balance shifts on what revenue is gained and lost.
On a recent 1800 mile drive, I saw thirteen police vehicles on the road or side. Eleven of them were in a seventy mile stretch along Hwy 395. That highway is on the eastern border of California and the western border of Nevada. They lowered the speed limit along that stretch to as low as 25 MPH.
I used to drive Hwy 395 often since it runs the base of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. But, I stopped. Whatever revenue I brought to the small towns went with me.
They are doing similar things in my new neck of the woods. Twenty-five MPH limits on isolated country roads built for twice that.
Utah seems to be the opposite. There are some stretches of I-15 now that are 80mph limits.
