Title: Old Ohaus 10-0-5 relic!
Post by: cwall64 on March 12 2015 12:42:33 PM MDT
I have been gathering up all of my old reloading gear, all of it still in the original boxes but price tags are too faded to see prices!  And I pulled out the old Ohaus 10-0-5 balance scale - it still works great!  I have been researching the different digital scales, but there is so many negative revues of all of them that I figured a cheap AMS digital scale from Amazon plus the Ohaus should get me very close...  If nothing else, good for a laugh at how good things used to be made!

Nothing wrong with that balance beam, understanding how it works is the key and it should still be quite accurate!
I have a slightly newer RCBS 5-10 made by Ohaus that is as accurate today as new!  ;D

I set my iPad up so the camera lens is looking at the pointer. Sure is a lot easier to see it zoomed in on the iPad than it is to see it with my naked eye!

Great idea, I was thinking of using a magnifying glass on an arm with LEDs - eyes are not like they were 30 years ago!  I think I need to appalagiuse for all the grief I used to give my dad when I was in my teens and he used to ask me to read a serial number for him!

Check weights are your friend! I would bet that they would site that the scale works great. That is pretty cool. Thanks for posting that picture.
