"Our message is this: we will no longer use the power and authority of our office to criminalize and punish decent, otherwise law-abiding citizens who choose to exercise the rights granted to them by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves and their families."
Great words. If we had more no BS leaders, we could turn this country around.
Wow! I guess he'll be out after the next election. The Cook County boys won't allow this. ;) Where is MacLean Co. in Illinois?

About 120 miles south-south-west of Chicago. Bloomington is the major city. Kinda between Peoria and Champaign-Urbana.
And geography wise, Illinois is pretty gun favorable. But, about half the population of the state lives in Cook County and they seem to run the show. My family is setting up a land trust in Illinois that was my grandfathers farm, so I have always and in the future will continue to spend time there. But the gun laws are just plain draconian.
I can drive from my home in SLC east and visit every family member I have, from Florida to Michigan. The only place I have to take off my carry gun is Illinois. Very frustrating during summer road trips.
I know most large cities all have their entrenched political machines but how many have continued as long as the 'Daley Machine' in Chicago? Even though they lost the court case they really haven't changed anything in policy. I suppose like some 'Safe Harbor' cities that seem to only enforce laws of their choosing.....and get away with it. We do live in interesting times......
In a place like IL someone has to start somewhere, so good for him!
Illinois is really a pro-gun state that got stuck with Cook County. Unfortunately, Cook County is so populace they get to run the whole state.
The rest of the counties should just break away. We could have a Chicago district. No seat in Congress, one electoral vote.
I've always heard Cook County has the highest cemetery election turnout of any county in the US. :o
