Title: Shooting The Bull sent me these pictures
Post by: Intercooler on April 03 2015 07:28:32 PM MDT
I had a question about what HP was tested in the latest Buffalo Bore test (9mm). I thought for sure it was Noslers and sent him my pictures. This is what he tested:

It seems Buffalo Bore will use just about anything anymore and charge out the Wazooo for them. I just can't suggest to anyone purchashing the stuff anymore.

It kind of looks like the Geco HP bullet without the cone:

It goes back to what I said, even the ammo makers are having to deal with getting supplies, components and powder... ???

+1

I do not know if Buffalo Bore gets to cut in line to get bullets, but it has been very hard around here to find hollow-points. Speer Gold Dot is impossible to find. I have not seen any Speer GD pistol bullets for 2 years. Remington Gold Sabre are also hard to find in stock. Hornady and Sierra are starting to stay in stock at most places.

I just got some 165 grain Gold Dots from Mid South Shooter Supply, might check there...

I don't think their is a shortage of Nosler bullets. That is what my box has and what I thought his test was. I think they are getting too much wiggle room with how they label the box and advertising. If I wanted Buffalo Bore, the first thing is open the box and see if it's the bullet type I want.

Unfortunately lots of the retailers around my area that stock 10mm have a policy that you can't open a box of ammo in the store.  So, you are back to a crap shoot.

Then the next best thing is just not purchase any at all  ;D The track record on what they have been doing is pretty well documented now. Buyer beware I guess  :-X

I open them suckers right up too.  NO WAY I'm spending $20-$60 bucks on a box of ammo sight unseen.  Particularly in light of the fact every retailer I've ever heard of also has a "no return policy" on ammunition.

I'm certainly not advocating opening each box you happen to pick up, but before I walk to the register, definitely open and inspect the suitability of the product.  Never had anyone say anything but if they did, I'd take my business somewhere else.
