Title: MIM part replacement
Post by: Klock20 on May 09 2015 09:07:26 AM MDT
So I bought a kimber tle custom 2 and I wan to replace all the MIM parts in it. I went on wilson combat and Ed Browns sight and didn't find any 10mm specific parts. Hammer, trigger sear, hammer strut, disconnector, ejector, extractor and barrel but that will come later. Can you use 45 parts or or does it have to be for a 10mm ?

The only parts that are 10mm specific are the barrel, slide and perhaps the extractor.  Usually the 10mm uses a 38 super/9mm extractor.

I would further say I see no reason to replace MIM parts.  They were fine with Wilson and Brown until the needed to differentiate themselves from the production custom shops.  Then suddenly they were the devil.

I would put together my standard field parts kit, field strip and inspect every 1K rounds and detail and inspect every year or 5k rounds.

I think LMT uses MIM parts.

MIM in and off itself is not a bad part.  Low quality MIM parts are low quality parts, just like low quality non-MIM parts.
