I have been waiting for the P220 w/adjustable sights to come out and I finally got one. First off, the pistol feels and looks like quality. While the trigger felt light, checking it with weights surprised me--it picked up 5 lbs 5X in a row without the sear releasing. It picked up 5.25 3 times and the hammer dropped 2 times and at 5.5 lbs, the hammer dropped every time. The pistol empty with a magazine weighs 44.3 oz. The sights are just outstanding in both construction and function. I fired a couple of shots and made some adjustments to get it solidly on the paper @ 25 yards. I then fired 10 shots for a group with some hand cast 208 grain SWC that I had loaded and sitting around. It did not disappoint...

Here is a picture of the case support on the barrel. I have not seen anything better with a factory (or even aftermarket barrel) for that matter. Sig did their homework.

Sig also has some deal going on with some of their guns where if you purchase from 6/15 until I think the end of July, you get up to $200 free gear from their catalog. Sent the coupon in today. ;D
Very nice! This will surpass the 3rd Gen Smiths and only lacks capacity to really be upper tier :P
Right now this is the no-brainer choice in 10mm pistols.

I'm interested in Sig's DA/SA fixed night sight 10mm model, but, as you mentioned, the 8+1 capacity is still a downer.
If Sig can engineer a reliable, 10-rd double-stack mag for the .45acp 227, they could've easily made a reliable 12rd-14rd 10mm mag for a 10mm 227.
I really can't think of a good idea why Sig would've avoided the 227-platform to field its first 10mm entry. ???
GangDog will by shortly to tell us how 9+1 is more than needed if you put the shot there 8)
I liked the DA/SA when I went over it at Cabela's. Like how a car's horsepower rating sells cars... I'm still going for capacity ;D
It is all in what you are looking for. I prefer a single stack magazine with a 10 or 45. Even if both were offered and at the same price, I would still have bought the 8 round over a 12 or so shot double stack magazine. I have two high capacity 9mms but I would not want a pistol with a grip any larger.
I don't know. Tangfoglio did a good double stack without it feeling huge. I don't live in california, or at least it hasn't become quite like that yet. I prefer firepower.
I am really in love with the GT20. I had a rocky start to it with the back and forth between durys, sig, and I. It has functioned perfectly thus far. Granted I haven't put a huge number of rounds through it, but it made it through the same amount of rounds without issue that it took to get the rock island functioning even 80%
Really looking forward to the hunt ready model! Congrats on the sig saleen!

Yes, it's all about the basic ergonomic design and the engineering talent to pull it off.
I've held, handled and shot the Tanfoglio Witness/CZ-clones and, back in the day, I fondled a couple of Bren Tens and actually got to put some few rounds of mid-range 10mm ammo thru the one. I can tell you that the girth of the BT's grip felt closer to that of a .40S&W double-stack than to a 45acp/10mm large-frame double-stack grip.
That said, I agree with Dave that Tanfoglio's d/s grip doesn't feel obnoxiously huge. Patterning the frame & grip design off the CZ-platform carries ergonomic benefits when you have to upscale it (size-wise) to house the longer 45/10mm cartridges.
Back to higher capacity magazines... I recently purchased the 10mm DA/SA. Bummer it only came with 2 factory mags. I've looked at all the normal places - including SIG themselves - no luck. I happen to also be a proud owner of a 27+ year old .45 ACP P220. I tried some of my .45 ACP magazines and they work just fine with 10mm rounds. I've made it a point, in my last 4 range trips, to only use the .45 ACP P220 magazines and they have functioned flawlessly. This does include the P220 10 round .45 ACP magazines.
At this point all told I've put about 500 rounds thru the 10mm P220 using the .45 ACP magazines.
At least it is an alternative for anyone who may already have some of them or access to them.

Great to know ... Thanks for that tip! 8)
The tanfoglio mag is relatively skinny for a double stack. As a result the gun is a bit bigger height wise than my wide body 1911. The design action also results in it being longer despite having a barrel 1/2" shorter.
I carried it all week last week. Great gun, but just not as comfy as my Para for carry. Feels just as good in the hand, if not a bit better though.
I think Sig will eventually come out with a 10mm on the 227 frame.

Hope so.
That hi-cap frame (holding what? 12-15 10mm rds?), combined with DA/SA mode and fixed night sights, would make for an
awesome carry/duty weapon.

I think rather than seeing that I would like to see a 320 10mm. Queue the old if glock can do it expression.
I wants one, but no way I can afford one right now. :'(
Just last week gave my son his Father's Day, birthday and Christmas gift. A SIG 220 DA/SA reverse two-tone in 10MM. The quality of this gun is above reproach and we can't wait to take it to the range. Ordered it at the Pro-Shop early January and it arrived about a month ago.
I've worked up 45 test loads to shoot over a chrono and for accuracy, so hopefully it will shoot as good as it looks.
I was at the shop last Monday trying to buy spare mags for it, and they didn't even have them, so will just keep checking.
This is my first post and I have to say I have learned a lot in the time I have been reviewing the info here. Thanks for all the info gentlemen.
Rags901, welcome to our family. That was a very nice thing to do for your son and a gift I'm sure he'll treasure always. We have a great group of people on here that are willing to share information.
Wow great Fathers' Day present!
Wish my dad had the money to buy me something like that!
I have to say it wasn't easy and a long time coming, about two years. I took some part time work, not just for the 10, but other shooting needs as well. Along the way I collected everything I needed to reload for 10mm, dies, brass, etc... On trips to the occasional gun show, I would buy loaded rounds manufactured from new components, ending up with about 400 rounds. Not earth shattering, I know, but a start.
Went to the range Monday night and the gun was everything we hoped it would be. Functioned flawlessly over approximately 100 rounds, almost all reloads over a chronograph. I'll post the data on the range report thread when I get the chance. I did learn a valuable lesson about how modern loads are downloaded. I picked up a box of 50 PPU 180 JHP at a local gun shop. Fired 5 over the chrono for grins. Exceptionally disappointing, to say the least. Averaged 1050 fps with a low of 992 and dropped the cases less than 3 feet away. Won't do that again!
FWIW in case anyone is getting ideas, I'm not looking to adopt!!! ;D ;D ;D
I am glad it is single stack. I like the glock 10 but the grips are to big for me. I am thinking the single stack will fit my hand real good. Now to start selling some guns to buy one. LOL
I would like to see the Sig 227 chambered in 10mm. ;)

+1 here
While a P227's slide is steel, the frame is not. Not sure the frame could take a 10mm battering. I have a P229, same problem.
They would just fabricate a steel frame for the stronger caliber for sure.

Same here.
Not long ago, Sig emailed a survey asking (among other things) what new products the consumer would like to see in the future. I took the opportunity to advocate for an all-stainless, SAO P227 in 10mm. ;D
So, we can blame you for SIG making a nice expensive gun we all crave? :P
Provided it actually happens, yarp. :D
