Title: EAA or RIA...?
Post by: thequintessentialman on August 28 2015 04:44:28 PM MDT
Been interested in a 10mm 1911 double stack long slide for a while now and have been saving my pennies.   The two candidates at the moment are the RIA model 52000 PRO Match Ultra 6" HC and the EAA Witness Hunter.  What are some of your experiences, thoughts, opinions, etc., with these brands?  Not sure what exactly I'll use it for, there is just a spot in the gun safe that needs one to fill it.  We do have OC starting here the first of the year, so it would be a good hiking companion when the wife and I go strolling in the forest.  :)

Personally I would take a RIA over a standard line witness.  But I would take an Elite line such as the Hunter over the RIA.

In this case, it is a really, really close call.  It all comes down to if you gotta have the 1911 style gun.  If so RIA will serve you well.  If not, the Hunter is a great CZ style gun.

Hunter without a doubt!

Then down the road you can give it a facelift like this  8)

I don't have a hunter model, but I do have 2RIA 1911's and 3 witness pistols. The EAA witnesses are much more reliable than the 1911s.

Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the clarification on the CZ style.

The Witness, without a doubt! The Tanfoglio is more robust and more reliable, without the eternal "tweaking" that's the eternal 'bugbear' (and bane) of the 1911. That Witness will run, and run hard, right out of the box!

Enjoy!
