Hi
Also got to look at some Buffalo Bore ammo and shoot it. Pretty stout and fairly accurate.

Good Work! Thanks for sharing.
Is that new production BB?
Last I heard they stopped using Gold Dots and were loading Montana Golds instead.
I could not positively ID the powder you have pictured...It didn't look silvery enough in the picture to be LongShot amd the flakes were very uniform as compared to irregular shapes in LongShot. ???
Yes, the bullet was a Montana not a Gold Dot..
The powder is not Longshot.. If one loaded 10.0grs of LS behind a 180gr bullet, one would have a real problem..
I believe this is something BB ordered special for this round or several of their rounds and it's not available to the public.
You mind measuring the length of the Montana Gold 180? Just curious.....Thanks.
The one I took apart I put back together and shot it in the group.
My sincere apologies.. The bullet used in this ammo is indeed a Speer Gold Dot..
I just need to slow down a little.. :-[
It had looked like the Speer Gold Dot to me! How ever I was interested in the powder charge weight and make... ;D
I thought it was a GD but wan't going to argue from a photo.....if it wasn't, I was interested the OAL of the bullet used ;D.
I thought it was a Gold Dot, that's why I asked if it was new production or not.

The powder is not Longshot.
Can you describe the general appearance of the powder?
Flaky? Like grains of sand? Round? Irregular shapes? Flat? Grey? Black? Yellowish? Multicolored? Shiny? Irridescent? Fluffy? Dense?.....
Or maybe even post a picture of the powder.
Okay, I'm stupid. He did post pics at the link which I had already even seen. :-[
Here is one of the pics;

Kind of looks like Alliant 2400 to me. I'm not saying it is, just that is kind of looks similar at least.
With the energy/velocity produced and 10.0 grain charge weight, I was leaning toward Power Pistol powder but it is hard to compare the two with out being side by side. Then testing to see what actuall test show.
Alliant actually shows 8.7 grains of Power Pistol producing 1,240 fps @ 34,900 PSI, so 10.0 grains may not be a far stretch to make the desired numbers of Buffalo Bore and still be safe pressure wise. I may have to do some work ups to see what the results show. 8)
That certainly makes much more sense. I've personally never seen what PowerPistol looks like to know. Either way, you are correct that the charge weight wouldn't add up for 2400 anyway.
TaosGlock from 10mmTalk reported this range report for 180gr Golden Saber
Glock20/6" 180gr. Golden Saber 9.6gr. PP MV:1331fps ES-34 ME:705ft/lbs.
Kimber 180gr. Golden Saber 9.6gr. PP MV:1376fps ES-97 ME:754ft/lbs.
I'm somewhat impressed. Did he discuss any pressure signs that may or may not have existed?
His remarks were that he felt they were no worst than other loads and seened save in his guns the way they were setup.
I'ld call that decent. Do you recall that the 6" used in the G20 was aftermarket, or if it was the actual Glock accessory 6" barrel?
The Jarvis bbl.
Good to know.
Here you can read the entire report by TaosGlock...

Thanks. He even choose to use CCI350 primers. Good Stuff.
The bullet in that pic is definitely a Gold Dot. I had heard that they went back to them. The powder could be 800-X. At 10.1 gr of 800-X I got an average of 1,333 fps. That's close enough to the box flap claim. The report gives an average velocity almost 100 fps slower, though.

Thanks for the pic. Definitely not 2400. It doesn't look like Power Pistol to me either, Power Pistol flakes are thinner, and blacker. The appearance is similar to Hodgdon Universal (similar performance to Unique) but that wouldn't make sense in this load.

You don't think it's 800-X?
I don't know about 800-X, I don't use it.
Shadow and others that do have mentioned tan colored identifier flakes in 800-X though, and I think I see those in the picture.

This powder in this picture
doesn't look like IMR800X!
This is what IMR800X looks like, there are a few smaller flakes inside that are tan in color...

There are two in this picture along the upper portion of the scale pan
Okay, thanks. The pan wasn't really giving me a good sense of scale. Those flakes are way smaller than the flakes of 800-X.
