Well the model 40 have been hard to come by except the distributors have the Republic of California models and I figure I can buy some extra high cap mags.
I will have a report later tonight or tomorrow on this weapon.

Range report and pics when you can..
I will get you more tomorrow but here are some snippets;
Trigger stock is better than Gen 3
Accuracy is co parable to the LW long slide and barrel.
Reliability is better than the LW long slide and barrel.
Loves any ammo from 105 grain DRT to cast 210 Grain WFN MIHEC cast.
Shot both 180 XTP and Gold Dot both were very consistent and accurate.
When I replaced the stock trigger group with the Pyrimide drop in the groups tightened up.
LW drop in will work but had two FTF had zero with stock barrle no appreciable gain in accuracy but a 7% gain in velocity with same loads.
With mounted RMR this gun just sings the best groups and and accurate shots with quick follow ups.

A note I had to scrounge up longer screws to mount the RMR I also made sure the rubber gasket was under it some other folks on forums just left that out. A even though it is potted water could get around the battery which would be a bad thing. I have one of the low cost Red Dot sitemark they had a plate that fit that as well my Burris also had a plate. So nice coverage from low end to top end Red Dot adaptor plates.
The Model 40 recoil spring on the Gen4 is definitely an improvement in design. The brass dropped consistently and not as far as the Gen 3 recoil after market spring 20 lb. Some of this surely has to do with the slide weight comparison. The 40 of course more mass.
I ran another 200 rounds of various ammo through the 40 and my 20sf this morning and the controllability of the Longslide is far superior. (sorry it is raining so I could not chronograph)
Comparing it to my Lone Wolf Long Slide the model 40 is not as heavy or big.
That said the design of the slide compared to the LW makes this stock model 40 easier to carry in my opinion.
I ran few rounds from 50 yards and with some work and better weather there is no doubt this is an excellent hunting package for varmints and deer with reasonable range. Very accurate. Of course a well constructed bullet is a must as is bullet placement. I fed this gun DRT 105 (these run close to 1600 FPS yesterday) grain right up to a 210 grain cast and it shot everything very well without a hitch.
Now I mounted my RMR on this gun but did a good deal of shooting it with open sights the added length sure makes for more accurate shooting gun with open sight as well. Nice touch they put that little adjustable rear site on this gun. I am not fan of Glock stock and will put some green lite pipe open sites on this gun later on.
As I said the high cap version of this has been hard to come by but most the distributors had the 10 round mag version the magazine capacity being the only difference.
I would recommend this gun to any serious handgun Hunter. The MSRP is $846.00 I got mine for $710.00 but have a long standing deal for buying guns from my dealer. I would think 725-850 range is attainable. I spent some money on the Pyramid drop in trigger and Titanium firing pin so had just under $1000.00 in it not including the RMR now have very nice semi custom 10mm hunting handgun. Glock hit it out of the park on this one.
Could you give us some specifics on the Pyramid trigger and titanium firing pin when you get a chance? Pull weight, distance of travel etc.
Was not a Ti firing pin just lightened plunger is though.

A local dealer had a blue label Glock 40 for $599. I sure wish I had bought it. It didn't last long.

I picked up a Glock 40 last week and like it. Good feel, good balance. The iron sights need to be changed out and I haven't decided whether I will put a red dot/reflex sight on it. I got the G40 as a woods gun so the red dot isn't that important. It fits perfectly in my HPG OKB so I can access it quickly if I had to. Picked it up from a local gun shop for less than $700. That was a good price considering a different gun shop near me was selling it for $839.
I handload so I am experimenting with different loads. It's a tad embarrassing but I'm having a bit of trouble shooting the G40 accurately. That will change, by hood or by crook. I can shoot my Ruger Toklat .454 Casull far more accurately than the G40, at least at this point. That says more about me than it does about the G40 which I think will be tack driver once I iron out the accuracy issue.
It really is a great gun.
Could just be those Crappy sights messing with you.

First off shoot 180 grain loads through this entire process.
Start out shooting at 5 yards. Off hand. Focus to shoot the smallest group possible. Do not move to 10 yards until you reach the accuracy threshold you are satisfied with.
Move back 5 yards and repeat.
Always end the practice session on high note.
What does this tell you? simple how well you are working the trigger.
What should you expect?
I can run 10 rounds at 5 yards in about 10-13 seconds and have a 1.5" group.
You will continue to enjoy it, it is a great hunting gun.
I have been carrying mine as my only firearm when pig hunting but the pigs have not cooperated so far.
I have a big Glock dealer close to me and was able to use a GSSF Certificate and got mine OTD for $643.
excellent and I really like the gun and shooting it is allot of fun. I am looking forward to deer hunting next year with it.
