I was playing around today with a 25" 1:40 twist test barrel chambered in 10mm SOCOM. It tossed the 135gr Sierra HP out at 3031fps. Unfortunately, it was way over the 35k pressure limit for the SOCOM. :(

other than the over-pressure,how did the bullets act ?
Unfortunately, I was shooting them across the chrono in our indoor test range which is only 50 feet. They flew fine and punched nice clean holes in the target. I probably won't be able to get out and shoot them at 100 yards for a couple of weeks.

Tony those are hooked up, what powder you working with for 10mm SOCOM? Lil'Gun? 1680? H-110/296?
Please keep us informed of the progress!
Awesome and interesting.
It was H110 that put the 135 over the screens at 3031fps, but it was over pressure and really too fast to use in the cartridge.
1680 worked well, as did 2015BR....at reasonable pressures. I really need to do a bunch more testing to find the right powder for this case.
I'm going to crop the barrel down to 16" and continue on. I don't think many people are going to be interested in 25" barreled 10mm. That was just the barrel blank length, so I figured I would fire it as-is before machining the final profile.

This will be fun to watch...
Thanks Tony for updating the powder test with the loadings. Hey I'd be interested in a 18" or 20" barrel testing the performance. Although economically the 100% copper or bronze bullets like the Barnes 125 or 140 grain and the Lehigh extreme penetrators seem like potential projectile to drive the heck out of the 10mm SOCOM.
based on the cartridge pic in your original thread, being 'underbore',4198 seems like an ideal candidate for optimal results.
This sounds good. Looking forward to the report one the barrel is 16".
