The family and I are now in Phoenix, AZ up north in the Deer Valley area.
Any of our members live in the area?
Congrats on moving to a very nice area. I lived in Phoenix many years ago. I live in Yuma now. Folks live in north Phoenix so we are there a lot. You will be able to really enjoy it in a couple months or so. 8)
I'm in north-central Phx around 7th Ave. and Northern and lately have been shooting often at Ben Avery Shooting facility, which is a large, excellent, safe general-purpose public shooting range that's open Wed. thru Sunday. I also shoot (blowing up those pesky plastic waterjugs!) often at a small, safe area that I call Bumblebee Mine about an hour up I-17. I'm retired and can get out about any time I wish. You're welcome to e-mail me at jeffreybehr(at)cox(dot)net; include something about 10mm Forum in the title or I'm likely to double-delete the message.
Glad to hear all is well and coming together. I had figured you all were fairly busy, since I last heard when traveling got closer to the destination. :D
Best regards for you and the family!
What do they charge for range time down there?

The fee at Ben Avery Shooting Facility, north of Phoenix, is $7 per shootist per day (NOT per visit)*. It's owned by the state, operated by the AZ Game and Fish Dept., and staffed with as many volunteers as they can find. It's open 7 - 7 Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday and 7 - 5 on Fridays and Sundays.

There are 66 VERY sturdy concrete shooting tables at the main public range (which is only one of many), the center section of which has target points to 200 yards; all 66 positions have target points at 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, and 100 yards. It's VERY safe and rather well organized, and I thank the rangemaster every time I leave for operating a safe shooting range. Normally they allow shooting for 15 minutes and then take a break for target placement, marking, retrieval, etc. They allow one to retrieve his own empties, off the concrete or from the gravel, but not more than that and they have extra brass-stopping nets available if the hanging nets don't stop your cases.
* That means you can shoot more than one visit per day; just save your receipt.
