Title: Remington R1 10mm
Post by: sqlbullet on August 10 2016 09:37:32 AM MDT
https://www.remington.com/handguns/model-1911-r1/1911-r1-10mm-hunter

Longslide 1911 in 10mm.

Yeah, I know, just what we need.  Another 10mm 1911.  But, seeing Remington offer it is exciting to me as they run pretty mainstream in handguns.  I take this as an acknowledgment that the 10mm is no longer seen as a passing fad.

Isn't this just a re badged  Para hunter.

Almost certainly is.  Still, Remington chose to keep it and not drop it.

Kevin Underwood really likes his Para piece. Too bad 90% of new offerings are 1911's.

Now all Remington has to do is make good 10mm ammo, not the watered down stuff that they sell now :(

I just read about this last night. Any new 10MM is an exciting development to me.

I could get behind it, good to see remington continuing the lineage. It looks nice and Price is steep but couldnt blame anyone on getting one.

Nice looking piece.

But I can get a Witness Hunter for cheaper and have double the mag capacity.

I'm just happy that the 10mm is gaining main stream attention. More 10mm guns = more ammo demand, more demand = more ammo producer's,  more ammo producers = lower price ammo due to competition and more ammo options.  I hope this gun feeds better than other para 1911's .

I posted it, I love 1911's and I have a Para 10mm now.

But...

hard to beat this logic.  And, I like my two Tanfoglio's too.

It is semi-official that this is a re-branded Para.  The stock photos of the rear sight show it marked Para-Ord.

When I can shoot my 1911's like this, who needs capacity? If you need more than 8 shots, you should be running, not shooting!

It gives me a chuckle when I read that every so often ;) When you can get your attacker... or attackers (these days) to hold perfectly still, like a Silhouette paper target, with hands to their side, face on- for the duration... have at it! You could probably make confetti, but I would still rather have them extra rounds in case they want to "shuck and jive"  ;D

I stand by my target and what I said. If you need more than 8, run, don't be shooting. All the target proved was I have a very good chance of hitting you. The gun I made that target with has a set of Crimson Trace green laser grips. Where the dot is, is where the bullet goes when I pull the trigger.

No one has ever said after a gunfight " I wish I had carried less ammo".

And, if you carry a 1911 you should have at least 15 with you.  7+1 in the gun and a spare magazine.  Murphy's law says the magazine in the gun will stop working when you need it most.

Para had storm lake barrel and EGW® HD Extractors in there long slide hunter 1911s I'm sure Remington isn't using those brand parts anymore. Remington is own by a Chinese company now like Browning and many others.

I thought Freedom Group owns Remington (and a bunch of other outdoor sports companies). Freedom Group is an American company.

I just got one of the Davidson's special run of Bronze, should be here tue or wed next week. Don't know much about Remington 1911's, but do have a Glock 40 longslide and a 29sf I EDC. Took a chance on the Remington, hopefully it will work out. Couldn't swing the Dan Wesson Bruin price tag. I'll take pics when it gets here.

Picked up my R1 Hunter today. Couldn't download the pics the file was to big, so I'll take some with my digital camera and reduce the file size. Anyway the Bronze color is really nice, great slide to frame fit. Excellent barrel lock up. Excellent trigger, very crisp 4-5lbs if were to guess, pretty much better than I expected. If it shoots as nice as it looks I'll have a winner on my hands. Range report and pics when I get a chance to go.

Somewhere I saw a report that said the Centimeter was labeled for a customer, it was a P40 other than that. I think they should go with it.

I just picked up my new Remington R 1 Hunter in 10mm. I like it, it offers good balance and a great sight picture. I don't like the VZ grips supplied with the gun however. I'm looking for something a little less aggressive on your hands. I'm thinking about a Bianchi X 15 shoulder holster to carry it in. I can't wait to get it out to the range and try it out. I've never tried whitetail hunting with a handgun, it looks like fun. I'll let you know how this combo works out for me.

Nice Rob,
Let me know what grips you choose. I agree they are a bit to aggressive. I took mine to the range this morning with limited time, I put 100 rounds of sig 180gr FMJ's through it, no issues. Very nice factory trigger on mine. Seemed to be right on targert at 25yds. So far I'm pleased with my R1 Hunter. Look forward to your range report.

I though I'd report back about my first time at the range with my new Remington 10mm Hunter. I replaced the VZ grips and put on a set of Pearce palm swell grips which look good and feel more comfortable in my hand. Shooting from a pistol rest my groups measured 1 to 2 inchs at 25 yards. Shooting free hand I was grouping around 3 1/2" using Hornady 165 gr loads. The pistol shoots good, weight and balance are excellent with a great sight picture.
