My part broken seems to always be the sites! I think I have had at least three different sets go on pistols but this one was actually a save! It saved me from a piece of brass on the second box of PBR Ammo. At least that is what I think because it hit me in the face lightly. Pictures soon to follow! :o
Something told me take the 1006 too just in case and so I did. Enabled me to finish up the testing!
Rear sight or front? Pics!! :P
Do the sights actually break, or is it simply that they come out of where they're supposed to fit into?
You guys will like this one. Hopefully we can figure out what happened! At this point I'm thinking about doing a Dawson setup or possibly trying the Henning fixed rear sight. I need Titanium sights for my pistols it seems :o
Interesting! 8)
That Match has seen alot of blasting. Not only blasting, but 10mm blasting. ;D
Could a piece of brass come back at just the right angle to knock it off? Since I removed the firing pin block are their any opening pressure could have knocked it off?

Im looking at my sights on the Match. They appear to be not the greatest in terms strenght.I miss the old school 3 dot iron sights the Witness came with like on my compact and .45 from 90's.You been firing rockets out of that gun for sometime, stress fracture,i would not be surprised.Plus the back end of rear sight flexs, not sturdy.
I have never had the base off. Nothing where pressure could come through under there though right? It is kind of flimsy and wobbles if you move it. Maybe it didn't get hit by brass... what's the chances a piece could come back low enough to hit it?
How did you like that Dawson front? I really hate a fixed rear sight but Henning's new piece looks nice. I was really impressed with the Dawson rear I put on the XD a couple of weeks ago. If I knew they could make one up for it I would send the slide in.
Dawson front not for me.Went back to orig sight, put a little nail polish on front,it works for me..Back to the rear sight,my guess and it's a guess,is that rear sight had enough. Not a big deal, again you put some heat into that pistol testing various loads.
Upon further inspection the rear part of the sight is split. Somehow it mushroomed from movement and come off finally after it split. It's basically a press-fit piece.
Guess I will contact EAA and ask. I would still rather go with a more robust piece like the Hunter has on it.
I would go with a fixed rear sight if it were me. My Match rear sight has not had issues yet though, through about 2500-3000 rounds. I have the same sight you show in your pictures.
But, on all my builds I put on a sight similar to the 10-8 performance sights. Fixed, solid steel, enough of a hook on the front that I can rack the slide one handed. These take a standard Novak cut, so you would have to have your slide machined, but it shouldn't cost that much.
I contacted EAA and they wanted the entire gun. Then I swayed them that sending the slide should be all that's needed. I'm going to see what that warranty is like and also request them add the front fiber sight while there. See how it goes.
I don't no,id send the gun in for sight work. That's just me.
I'm shipping the slide tomorrow. See how it goes!
Best of luck with getting satisfactory repairs! 8)
Yea fingers and toes are crossed. If they don't then lesson learned and I will share my good or bad experience on the FB page. For a sight I don't know why they would want the entire firearm but to maybe test it or check the serial number. I sent just the slide with piece and my original sales receipt. I paid $499 for it when I purchased.
Talk to Henning. He recommended that I not go with the LPA adjustable because it wasn't very durable. I got taller fixed rear that I can file down to meet POI.
After this I will. I wanted to more or less see how my experience with the customer service worked out :)
Let us know if it has improved. They have a terrible reputation and they must want to fix it if they intend to stay in business.
It's been there for a little while now. I guess I will call them mid-week to see what's up since they haven't contacted me yet.
I wish Dawson could make me an adjustable rear for it. If it goes again I will explore options! Long ago the Match had the current Hunter Bomar style sight which is much better!
Nothing back yet or even a call. Guess I need to phone them up again! In here at the 7:30 mark he talks about customer service:
Well I got my slide back today out of the blue. Out of the blue because I put a note in to call me when they started workign on it. Never got that and they didn't follow the instructions about putting a fiber sight on the front. Beats me because they lost the sale of a sight plus install fee. They did put a new rear sight on and it looks good... ready to rock! Overall pretty decent experience to share.
;)
Line'em up and test them out! 8)
I don't have anything to test anymore :o
Well, take some left overs and take them out and shoot something. ;D
I can do that!
You should have sent some brass in the package, I'd loaded you some 10's up with cast bullets to help you out! ;D
I for sure have to put some rounds through it to adjust the sights again :D
Weather looks good today. Sight in the Match and put some through the others.
