Title: Les Baer Premier 10mm
Post by: Overkill338 on December 23 2016 06:55:22 PM MST
I just seen this in Shooting Times. Sweet looking shooting iron. I took a couple of pics from the article. I noticed the Winchester Silvertips got 1300 out of this 6" barrel. So much for that 1290 rating for a carry size pistola.

6" barrel is way too long. You can easily get 1500 fps out of a 5" barrel with Underwood ammo.

Wow only 1269 from the Hornady 155 grain XTP?

This ammo feels pretty hot when fired out of my Glocks. Makes me wonder if they scaled it back.

That is a very nice looking gun. However for $3K it should be.

Street price should be about $2300.  Still a lot of money.

In my opinion, Les Baer pistols are a bargain compared to Brown, Wilson, and Nighthawk.

I live in the same Metro Area as Baer, I am going to see what I can get one for after the 1st.

Thanks for posting, I have not heard about Baer 10mm.

I was able to access the article on line and read it.  The author was pretty impressed by both the pistol and the Federal ammo.

I have a Baer Boss and it is my favorite 45.  The Baer pistols are so tight that the first cleaning is really an experience.  Les says don't even try to take them apart to clean for at least 300 rounds.

I am the local Chairman of the Friends of NRA and we get a pistol from Les every year at half street price for our fund raiser.  Les is quite a character.

I am a little surprised that Les brought this out.  His first venture into the 10mm guns had lots of reliability problems and he stopped production.

I'm truly jealous my friend. I can't say my hands have ever touched one. I would love to have one in 10mm in a Commander size. Is that what Les calls a Stinger?

I doubt that Baer brings out a 10mm "Stinger" version very soon.  I notice that he does not offer the 10mm in a 5" version even.

He is just now venturing into the 9mm and 40 S&W market.  Baer is pretty much Old School and does very little stainless and no "coatings" at this time.  I think his business has always been good enough that he has not had to expand his line.

I read one time that:

"The 'Ed Brown' is the classy brunette that you take to the cocktail parties and the 'Les Baer'  is the nymphomaniac blonde that you take to the Ted Nugent concert."

Is a Stinger a 4.25 barrel?

At least I helped you find something you didn't know was out yet  ;D

If you get it, please try some Underwood 135's and see what speed  they run.

Edit: omg I'm in love, I want a Black Baer!

I had to go look up the models.

The Comanche is the Commander size frame and 4.25 barrel.

The Stinger has a 4.25 barrel and an Officer's Model size frame like a Colt CCO.

The Black Bear is neat, just too expensive in my opinion.  Made to compete with the Brown's and Wilson's I guess.

Bumping this old post because I have a Baer 10mm.
I love Baers!
This thing shoots!!!
I ordered mine in December and got in in January.
That was a good article in Shooting Times.
I talked with Les at SHOT show and he really liked it.

First of all you cant go wrong with a Les Baer!
When I was shopping and researching my buying of a 6" 1911 based 10mm I looked at all the different guns available.
I settled on a STI Perfect Ten.
STI has a good rep for quality built hand fitted 1911's and the Perfect Ten had the advantage of being a double stack 10 while still fitting my medium sized hands.
Fit and finish is outstanding... I like the bull barrel... accuracy is great and no hiccups of any sort in 1000 + rounds so far.
Just another option in the higher priced 10mm's   I believe they are still around $2400
Too be honest I still prefer my Tanfoglio Hunter but the STI is a close second

I wouldn't mind having that Les Bear in 10mm. Or in any other caliber! :)
