Wow!
Have others been bringing this much?

Yikes! I have been watching a 1026 on GB but it hasn't reached those numbers. That's impressive.
Wow, that is high. I sold mine a few years ago and got around $1500.
The value is not worth that even if it were a lettered FBI pistol! It is too much as priced.... ::)
It lacks the warning on the right side of the slide "Capable of firing without the magazine"
It does have the cross cutting of grip on the front of the frame grip.
NIB gets them every time.
A little bit above my limit of spending but if you have it and want it, go for it. I know of at least two happy people. ;)
Same for me when I sold a couple, a 1076 and a 1066 I think. And a boat load of magazines. I got $40 each for the magazines, all new. Now look what they go for. But I was happy and so was he.
I may never get that 1006 I want :'(
Plenty of other fantastic 10mm weapons to buy, however :P
The S&W 1026 that I was watching sold for $1550!

What are the more common 1006s going for now?
There are four listed currently on Gunbroker ranging from low 700's up to 1000.
Clean 1006s were going in the 700's several years ago. Now probably scratch and dent. Probably most will clean up nicely. Will check GB from base tonight.
I cannot remember what I paid for mine. $600 I think. Just looked like it was stored in a junk drawer for years. Just minor mars and dust/dirt. But no sign of being fired to any extent at all. Not even sure why the seller didn't clean it other than lack of knowledge to field strip.
The nice thing about stainless steel guns is they clean up nice. A little 400 grit and a bead blast do wonders!
I bought my 1026 in 94 or 95 for $500. It was in very good condition. Still looks great for it age/use.
For reference,there's currently a 1006 w/1mag for $775 on Armslist/Ohio/Cleveland
Sure glad I have one NIB 1076 and a like new used one..Purchased back in the 1990's . One of my favorite 10mm's of all time. I prefer it to my 1066.
Affordable ones are still out there, just have to watch the local classifieds and be ready to jump on it immediately. I picked up a 1026 last year from an estate sale, came with box, docs, range bag. a bunch of ammo, 2 holsters and 4 mages for $900. It was too clean to shoot and I ended up selling just the gun and mags for $1600. Picked up a 1006 about 4 weeks ago with 3 mags, ammo and a brand new Galco over the shoulder holster for $800. Gun has no marks on the barrel or frame so I believe it has very few rounds thru it. Last owner got it in a land trade about 15 years ago and never shot it. This one is the keeper :D Have about 300 rounds thru it now and am gathering parts to make 4 more mags.
Still looking for a revolver. Have seen a few go up for sale but always right after I drained my gun fund.
