Now that Photobucket wants an obscene amount of money for hosting and posting on sites, what sites are you using?
So far Photobucket is still allowing my images...at least I'm seeing them as posted. This includes the pull-down section here where most of the important stuff is posted. But I am paying Photobucket a small fee of $30 per year. However that will probably change in February, when the new billing takes place, as the smallest is now $60 per year. :o
If they double my account to make it $60 a year, I'll likely drop them, and all of the attached pictures will be gone. ???
I have had to do somethings different just to get my pictures to post and that has been working for now...
Are you all still seeing the images I have posted here or are they gone? If they are not being seen please let me know! :-[
The $60 plan doesn't allow '3rd party hosting' according to their TOS. You would have to have the $399 plan for that. I'll have to look and see if yours are still visible.
Never used an image host. I have my own server space in the "cloud" and just push anything I wanna share there. That way I control my content and understand ahead of time my providers revenue model.
imgur or picture trail
.
Yes, I'm using imgur now.
Well I got the letter today from PhotoBucket...
QuoteThis message is to inform you that we discontinued the Plus 20 plan in June of this year. We have grandfathered your expired plan for several months as a convenience.
In order to keep your account current and all of your content available, we are asking that you migrate over to one of our current Plus plan offerings:
Failure to do so within 30 days will result in your billing to be suspended, and your account will be reverted to a free account.
If you have any questions about your account or which of our current offerings is right for you, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thanks,
Sebastian,

Well, the pictures will likely disappear off my postings because I'm not paying their extortion fees...

Can you download all the photos? I would be glad to help edit posts to point to a new provider, especially for the pull down data.
Need a new provider and then can rebuild the Pull downs... Hopefully other hosting sites will not do the same.
Studying which sites might be the best option.
I'm using Postimage.org and they're free. Works pretty good.
+1 for postimage... I like it.
OK I made the decision and went with the Postimage.org and have started to change addresses in the 10mm Pull-Downs starting with page 10.
I have done a few and it is sort of seamless with exception of the date modified.
This will be a work in progress and will take some time...Wish me luck! :D
Oh yea thanks for the suggested hosting site info guys! 8)
Wow, I have finished rebuilding the addresses for the 10mm Pull-Down Section. :o What a Job making sure nothing gets lost! ???
Now to pick another section and start again fixing addresses...Damn you Photobucket! >:(
Postimage.org has some good features, I just hope they don't disappear. :-[
Postimage.org had some problem with funding and keeping the site alive but now it seemed to do better and better yet, it's still free.
I hope they stay stable and free, because I have just about finished changing every picture address of importance here on the forum!
The various pull-downs are all newly addressed so you will see new dates modified for the last several days here. I have 2700 plus photos hosted over on photobucket and was paying $30 a year.
If postimage decides to charge about the same up to $30 a year, I'd be OK with that.
I'm sure there are older post that may have some of my pictures and I continue to try and locate them so I can change the addresses.
I hope you have redundancy.
Well as I scout out post that still need addresses changed of my hosted pictures, I am finding several posted by others that have already expired.
I continue to push along working to insure that mine are reworked with new addresses so they continue to show for a long time to come!
