Something a little different.

Might be interesting to see a Glock 20 frame with a Glock 29 slide. Not sure what niche it would fill, but would be interesting.
Opposite of what we need. The grip is what is hard to conceal, not the barrel. They needed a 17 slide on a 19 frame.
Once again Glock has come to the rescue with a quality product that is nothing more than a parts swap that they charge more for. It would seem the current motto for Glock management is, "quality without innovation". I love my many Glock's but suspect Glock's opinion is their customers are idiots.
This was the runner up to the Sig 320 in the MHS program. Glock is just releasing the gun they developed.

The new Detonics company made a 1911 like that. Little Combatmaster frame with a 5" slide on it. I think they called it the Street Deuce.

Back when the Gen 2 was out some major gun people (magazine writers, police, etc) wanted the Glock to have finger grooves so Glock made their guns with finger grooves (Gen 3). Now the same people want a Glock without finger grooves. I think Glock properly assessed that their customers are idiots who have no clue what they really want.

Well put! Reminds me of our German Shepard. All morning he has wanted to go out. As soon as he is out, he wants in. When he is in, he want out. Over and over. We call it "the wrong side of the door syndrome". No matter what side he is on, it is the wrong side. Sounds so much like finger grooves on a Glock.

Sounds like every woman I've dated.
The one thing with this G19X that I find odd is I don't believe it has the new flared magwell the Gen5's do. I thought this was the only real improvement for the Gen5 and of benefit for military type applications.
I once did something similar, I put a Colt Commander slide on a Colt Officer's Model frame, and then sold the remaining short officer's slide with the full length Commander frame to a friend that wanted that combination for some reason.
The genius carried it in a horizontal shoulder holster tucked under his arm!
Actually, it's out a little early:

I've always liked the Colt Commander style (full frame, short slide) and this just fits the bill as well as my G19 holsters!
I actually went to the store looking for the new Ruger PC 9 carbine and the new Speer Gold Dot 200 grain 10mm but found this sweetheart instead.
Yes, I saw one (pre-sold) in FDE at the LGS earlier today. Nice.

Looks nice!
I would be interested in seeing this compared to a Sig P228/9. Seems like this should be almost exactly the same size, but +2 rounds.
I've got an early P229 in the safe. I'll try to grab some photos for you.
Thanks.
In other news...Are you also known as "Kuma" on a different forum?
Unless you have freakish monster hands, I don't see a single problem this solves any better than a magazine extension. I just don't get it. Some of the other features are cool, but the purpose of the pistol eludes me.

Yup. My usual forum name was taken so I had to improvise.

Speaking as someone whose little finger partially hangs off the bottom of the 19's grip, enough that I've blood-blistered it during fast magazine changes, I'm rather glad they went with a 17's grip. Also, unlike the Gen5s, it doesn't have the cutout at the bottom of the frame that I hate the feel of in my hand.
I'm glad they keep making different versions as you never know what someone might like. I honestly didn't expect to like the 19X when I first heard of it. That all changed as soon as I handled one.
If they bring out a 17X with the same flat frontstrap without cutouts, I'll probably buy one of those as well. And I'd jump all over a mid-sized 10mm if they go down that road.
Requested photos. Sorry about the quality:

Awesome! Thanks.
As I kinda suspected, this is pretty much a direct competitor to the P229 as far as size. And it beats it by a couple of rounds in capacity. And is a fair bit cheaper.
You are welcome. There is also a noticeable difference in the weight (unloaded) with the 19X being lighter. I don't have one of the newer railed versions of the standard P229 (I have the early one shown and a P229 Carry) so there are likely to be some additional differences.

That's fair, large hands. I always hated the 19 for the finger groove spacing not lining up. The 17 and 26 were fine in that regard. I agree about new versions, just that Glock takes forever. Witness that mid sized 10mm they would sell like hot cakes...well by 10mm standards anyway.
