Title: Underwood’s bullet options
Post by: Kenk on August 15 2018 06:49:21 AM MDT
Question on Underwood's JHP options. I have bought plenty of their XTP, and bonded jacketed Speer ammo, but have not tried their Nosler bullets. Thoughts on how the Nosler's do for overall performance compared to the others they offer?
Thanks

Ken

I too am interested in hearing how they perform because I just ordered a couple of boxes. I ordered the 200gr Jacketed Hollow Points loaded with Nosler bullets.

According to this, not very good.

The Nosler 200 grains typically perform OK.  The lighter bullets tend to not handle the extra 10mm velocity as well.

Thanks folks, will stick with UW's XTP & Gold Dot. Did pick up some 180gr V Crown today for reliability testing in the G20, from many reviews it looks promising

I don't like the 200gr Nosler as much as the XTP or Gold Dot but there is nothing wrong with them.
I've used them on feral hogs and they worked fine.
There are other gel tests of them available online if you care to look.  So I wouldn't sweat one test with denim and Clear Ballistics (which we've pointed to documentation indicating it's less dense than ordinance gel).  Some here love the 135gr Nosler for it's explosive characteristics in self defense situations against BG (2 legged).  Is I said, I personally favor the XTP, Gold Dot in 180gr or 200gr 10mm Underwood flavors but the 200gr Nosler is good to go as well (IMO).  YMMV.

The 200 grain Nosler JHP is significantly cheaper than XTP to buy bullets for reloading.

Yep, the XTP's are spendy

I have yet to find a deer wearing more than one layer of denim.
