Title: NY Sheriffs response to the SAFE act

Glad to see the NY Sheriffs openly stating that the magazine capacity restriction will have no impact, and that they are against the "assault weapons" provisions.

And I agree with them that the manner in which public review and debate was skipped is atrocious.  However, after calling out this travesty, the article says "Fortunately, the Governor has shown himself open to working with interested parties to address some of the problems that arose due to the hasty enactment of this law."

I gotta take issue with this.  The people of New York were raped by the process that was followed with this legislative process.  A few dinner dates and a movie to show you are a nice guy does not, after the fact, turn rape into consensual sex.

*Apologies to any of you who belong to WeTheArmed where I also posted this.

Works now, not several times earlier today. Too much traffic, I suppose.

Seems carefully worded, as they are under new laws passed by their legislature, unlike many sheriffs in other parts of the country that are not. Perhaps diplomatic would be the correct term. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in terms of compliance. I believe one NY legislator has released info that the original intent was to go for confiscation but that was watered down to registration.
