Yeah i did it, followed an online process which uses a dremal. I have done some work to it, about to order a LW barrel then getting it dipped. I absolutely LOVE the 10mm platform!!!
Same thing I do to all my gen 3 glocks--- I hate the finger grooves. Add a strip of 3m tread tape and you are golden.

I am with ya not fond of the grooves what so ever. Contemplating whether or not I wanna stipple it or go with a textured grip. Decisions decisions!!!
Here is one of mine:
Custom 10mm 1911 built by Rhys Custom in Wyoming (I hadn't heard of them before I got this, but they seem to do pretty nice work). The rest of my 10s are more "common"!

Thank you. And you as well Luigi.
I spec'd it out from the ground up actually. After receiving it I changed the rear sight from a fixed low-mount Trijicon to the adjustable black serrated Dawson Precision rear sight you see in the pic. The original grips were blown in half on both sides by a double charged round and replaced with a set of black alumagrips. Those were then replaced by the carbon fiber grips you see there. I do regret having a chain link front strap done. I wish I had gone with serrations or even checkering in the original plan.
Fusion did an excellent job on this one for me. I can't say enough about it.

Yes, I put that one together a long time back. It's got lots of extras. FL guide rod, Wolffe springs, trigger and sear and sear spring. Steel main spring housing and another wolf spring, stock colt barrel slide and frame. Exactly what brand I simply don't remember. ;)
It's a very good shooter with a clean trigger.

I need a G29 bad!!
Thanks for filling in those blanks. I am always tinkering, especially with 1911's. Always glad to hear about what is working for or like by people, especially those who have them in 10mm.
Nothing fancy, but I had to leave money for sights, trigger, and reloading components ;)

That's a good point. Not to mention there's little "need" to stick more money into it after buying it unless you want to. Very nice when something just plain works right out of the box.

Gorgeous guns. I can't help but notice the grip safety on the Delta is quite different than the one on the DW. Especially where it meets the frame. The DW seems to have sharper angles while the Delta is rounded. My Para is like the DW.
I only notice becuase I have spent the last several nights blending a grip safety to a gun :-)

The GS on the Delta is Wilson Combat and it was custom blended by Marianne Carniak. It's just about perfect. The GS on the DW is an Ed Brown and the blending is quite minimal. Not bad but not custom, either. Good eye!

I had my 1006 and 1066 refinished by S&W.
I bought both from the original owners who claimed a low round count. The internals were near new, but the 1006 looked like someone had thrown it around in a box with a bunch of rock (ithad scuffs and scratches all in it) and the 1066 only had slight handling mark but (again) was barley used per the original owner.
I sent both to S&W to have them to have the factory refresh. Once I paid, it was only 1 week turn around.
Enjoy :

Chamber is great, fully supported and ramped but fussy on OAL. Recoil spring weight = a deer with no eye's
Or no idea ! ;D
Quotewifecallsmegrumpy writes; Chamber is great, fully supported and ramped but fussy on OAL.
The STI shown in the Oct 2012 Guns magazine has the swivel link but I don't think it is a ramped barrel? ???

No way to tell from that photo. The lower lug sticks down below the ramp on ramped barrels too.
Looking at the photo in zoom directly from the PDF I think it is. Also pretty sure Nighthawk uses ramped barrels in all there 1911's except 45 ACP.
About four photo's down is a picture of a ramped barrel Nighthawk, as well as the indication that all non-45 ACP will be ramped.

Congrats on the new G29! Mine was one of my favorites guns ever...
Quote from: justin10mm on August 20 2012 12:09:22 PM MDT
My G20 is nothing special.
Mine either. It's just the most reliable platform, ingeniously simplistically designed without compromise, without all kinds of nonsensical safeties, that has to be beat up beyond insanity before it will ever let you down, while being far more accurate than combat accuracy requires, and at a half way reasonable price to boot.
Then there's the G29 (which I also own) that simply allows for a smaller package than the G20, still including all the same real world benefits. Plus SF models for those prefering a grip with less circumference. Even for those that do manage to break anything on the G20 and G29, usually you are all of put out by a 5 minute internet search for the part, and then some small meanial fee to have the part purchased.
Nothing special at all other than making good sense to own for anyone, and a blessing to those not blessed with unlimited funds. Then there's the
fancy stuff. Pretty with a good trigger pull, but waaaaaaaaaaaay outside my budget. Congrats to those who can afford them, sometimes even more than one.
It's hard to own one and not the other, 20/29
That's the truth! I've owned both separately over time....always wanting both but not thinking I needed both....and now I do have both, and am twice as happy as when I only had one or the other.
Thx
The STI shoots like a dream, except with it being so light the hot Underwood really lets you know you opened a can of whoop-ass.
My new companion ... yes, just another GLOCK, but one I really like. :-)
(http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll170/s0nspark/G20Gen4/th_g20gen4x30001.jpg) (http://s288.photobucket.com/albums/ll170/s0nspark/G20Gen4/?action=view¤t=g20gen4x30001.jpg)
This one remains stock except for the Vickers Extended Slide Stop and the Warren Tactical sights... I plan to shoot it a bunch before making any internal changes since the Gen4 is a new beast to me. The Gen4 grip on the G20 feels a lot better in my hand than the Gen3 did... probably because it does not feel quite so squared.
I have some Underwood and (relatively tame) 3GunAmmo to run through it... I'll hopefully get to that this week sometime.
Next on the list is to get the holster situation squared away. I'll be ordering an OWB (gun+light) from Vigilance Tactical later this week and am considering a Kolbeson Leatherworks TAC-Hybrid IWB holster too (again, gun+light). I will hopefully have a Galco King Tuk in hand this week to tide me over... my impressions of all forthcoming once I've had some time with them.
Edit: I have since added a Grip Force Adapter and, although I didn't care so much for it on my Glock 19, on this gun it changes my grip angle just enough to keep my trigger finger from dragging the bottom of the trigger guard. This gun is quickly becoming the one that fits me best! :-)
Another new acquisition; S&W 1006, I bought yesterday and I'm buying another one next week

Houlster, how is the compact reliability wise?
Out of the box, I had a series of jams where the front of the cartridge case would catch on the top edge of the barrel as it was entering the chamber. The edge had a very sharp corner. (Which frame it was on didn't matter) On my Match, the inside edges of the chamber opening are very slightly radiused. I filed a small radius into the top edge on the compact's barrel the same way and it's been 100% since then.
I haven't shot it a ton, but it's been good since this change. Probably 400 - 500 rnds total. I've also had very good luck with my 7 or 8 magazines. I had to sand down the base plate on a few of the 15 rnd replacement mags to seat fully in the Match, but have never had a magazine or other problem besides the above.
--Dan
Thanks for that information. A compact has long been on my list, but never made it to the top at the right time.
I had to sand down my mags as well to get them to fit my Match.

My elite match has remained unfired since purchase. Damn shame
Why
Because it's "PURRRRTY".
Not me. I wring them all out!
They make new Match pistols everyday. Its not like a limited edition so enjoy it!
No safe queens at my house either. Nothing sadder than a gun that isn't being shot. Now, if I had a Bren Ten, I would be careful about what I fed it, but a Witness...not so much.

Very nice Bongo. Which brand/model of sight is that?
Thanks. Do you think I got one big enough? :)
It's the EOTech XPS2, specifically the XPS2-1, with the protective aluminum hood removed (else it would be even bigger). Maybe someday I'll have an M4 or something to put it on, until then, it's working mighty nice on the Hunter.
You ever see Henning's Hunter where he put the red dot in the rear sight Dove?
My stock grip panels moved no matter what. I put Henning's panels on and it was the way to go! Had any issues with yours?

Have not seen Henning's, but I've seen red dots mounted that way--C-Mores usually, I think. Looks nice, seems like an awful place to put electronics tho. But, with the little button batteries and hardened electronics I guess it's no problem. What drove me to this particular unit was that it was shorter than most EOTechs (and I thought, overall smaller), and it's EOTech because I thought the 1 MOA red dot would be just the coolest thing in the world (which I think it is, so far). It's definitely about 50% bigger than I thought it was--I didn't pay much attention to little details like
dimensions when I ordered it. :)
Yup, both grips loosened up first thing, right out of the gate. It's going to be a Locktite kind of gun. Not sure exactly what they were thinking with one grip screw, and mounted out in the middle of no where to boot. Not a big worry though...a minor irritation easily compensated for with the groups this appears to be capable of. For me, this is a strictly fun-at-the-range gun...I don't hunt thank goodness, because I've seen Weatherby's that are lighter than this thing. As pictured it's about 57 oz, empty magazine.
Yeaahh baby.
Nice gun and welcome to the forum.
I told you wrong. Henning just took his rear sight off:
I bought his old grip panels and they are totally worth it. The stock pieces weren't cut long enough was the main problem and I tried Loctite a couple of times with no luck. The aluminum panels stay put:

But, the rear sight retains the pin block spring. Wonder what he did to address that. Unfortunately, even a fixed rear sight is about $80 so buying one to sacrifice as a spring retainer isn't something I want to do.

I recently purchased a Glock 20 SF as I wanted a semi-auto I could hunt with. I installed a JPoint reflex sight and a 6" KKM barrel. 1 Dan Wesson Razorback
2 S&W 1006

Stainless Lone Wolf Long Slide
Lone Wolf Threaded Compensator
Burris Fast Fire Red Dot
Pro Pick Trigger Kit (installed minus striker spring)
15lb Recoil Spring on Stainless Guide Rod
2 - 15rnd OEM Glock 10mm Magazines
Arredondo +5 Mag extension
Best pistol I have ever owned; a rugged work horse that shoots like a race gun. It shoots standard over the counter low powered 10mm ammo with almost no felt recoil. And handles high powered boutique and handloaded ammo like it's nothing. Accurate enough to consistently make 100yd shots.

I use a 20lb spring for most ammo, and the 15lb spring for weak factory ammo. I got some old Federal Hydra-shock for cheap, and with the 20lb spring, the brass would barely fall out the ejection port lol

Let's put it this way. 10mm is the ONLY duplicate of a caliber pistols I own. Why have more guns than uses?
If my new long slide Fusion Firearms is as good as my Dan Wesson Razorback....I might very well just SELL the
Razorback. The Fusion cost me too much to sell it. But Tthe Fusion has a pretty big bar to step up to equal this target from my Razorback.

Those razorbacks are sweet and accurate guns. My Kimber is pretty good. It's a tossup for which one I carry.
Have an account for the Fusion I want, sadly not getting much funds a the moment, due to purchasing a suppressor for the H&K.
Also want a Wilson in 10mm.

The Stock Grips on the Delta Gold Cup are Rubber Slabs (a lot like the Stock Colt Wood Slabs), not the Delta Elite Wrap-Around Grip
The Grip on mine is not a Colt Grip at all
It is a Hogue, Wrap-Around, Finger Groove MonoGrip that I custom inlayed the Colt Delta Medallion and trimmed for the Low Lever Thumb Safety
So I really can't answer that honestly
Interesting.

This is my first Glock--purchased specifically because it's a carryable 10mm Auto with 10+1 despite the risk I felt I was taking with a Glock. Glad I took that 'risk'. So far it appears to be everything I'd hoped for, plus some. The fact that it is quite possibly the most butt-ugly handgun I've ever seen, short of the Nambu, no longer is of any concern to me. I expect I will change anything and everything needed to ensure this is my EDC from here to eternity. It may be silly to make such a decision after a box of commercial ammo, but I don't think so--this one's a winner.
...and now with trigger guard tweakage:

Not my cup of tea but I will say it's a great looking piece and I'm glad they exist. Very Nice!
Well I was set on trying to get the VLTOR remake of the Bren Ten in a "Vice Model" @ $1300+ with money on deposit for 355 days. Those who followed that story know it never happened and probably will not ever! Thanks for nothing VLTOR! >:( I had that money returned and still saving it just in case...
Knowing I had a weakness looking for yet another 10mm...I was saving some other money up to get a G-20 gen4...
I thought I'd have never gotten a Bren Ten especially at the prices they are going for these days. This one happened to be close by and I communicated with the guy who owned it on an other forum when he posted pictures. I teased him about going over to see it, fondle it and possibly shoot it, however that never happened. Well he ups and posted it for sale, I happened to be in the right place at the right time with some money in hand! I did not hesitate and contacted him immediately for a possible sale and the deal was sealed! So instead of a reproduction Vaporware, I wound up with the real deal!
Nice. Glad you had your head up when that one came flying by--I'm sure this wasn't one where you could sit around and think it over for a few days. Here, it's bitter cold outside and I needed something to do besides work, so I flattened the trigger face and removed the goofy trigger safety thingie. Man I love JB Weld--it's a miracle in a tube. :D
Anyway, with the glockworx spring and connector kit and this tweak, this thing is feeling mighty sweet now

Feels like a trigger now and not a sausage grinder, and I never considered these trigger safeties served any practical purpose so it won't be missed. A few minutes, and the gun can be back into stock configuration should that be needed for an IDPA match, etc.

Clarinath, Nice EAA, you should elaborate some about the gun and yourself. Welcome to the forum! :D
The gun is an EAA Witness Wonderfinish with the strong slab sides. Bought new for 489 at LGS about two months ago. Upgrades include an EAA 6" bbl and a 22 pound recoil spring. I got a few retail boxes of ammo for it, but now reload exclusively. My recent loadings put it up to 1359 fps with a Hornady TMJ 180gr bullet, CCI Large Pistol Magnum primers and 11gr of Blue Dot. I have 500 Nosler 180 gr HP and 250 Nosler 200 gr HP to load in addition to 200 Hornady TMJ. I just need to get more brass.
The first pic was after the new barrel was installed and fitted, second pic was new from the store. Third pic is my two boys playing with the new toy daddy brought home.
Cool, glad to hear about your acquisition, daddy may be busy loading seeing those two poppin' rounds. The longer barrel is quite interesting. 8)
So far I like it, we will see how I do in pistol league this year.
The two kids are no longer in the house, so I have more bullets to myself. Funny how I have more bullets, all my tools are in their rightful place and not in the yard, etc, etc. I miss the little buggers, but when they come for a visit they bring more and more interesting toys that they can now afford.
Nice looking gun. Let us know how it goes in League venues.
It's a pretty simple league, nothing too crazy, just a bunch of guys getting together one night a week to shoot for trophies, bragging rights and cash.
Nice! I put a 6" barrel in my Match before selling it and buying a whole Hunter 6". They are nice pistols but the adjustable sights seem to falter. You have fixed which is good!
That's not a fixed sight,looks like adjustable.
Nope, fixed sights. Am thinking of getting adjustable, or even a Leupold holo sight. If it fits a CZ will it fit a Witness?
No rule on CZ v Witness.
In fact, that sight cut looks very different from the site cut on my witness.
sqlbullet,i did notice what your saying.Yes,a diff cut.

Black Hawk Serpa Holster
At the FTF transaction price of $800, why wouldn't I do this...Oh, BTW now I have the G20 to put my LWD 9x25 Dillon Barrel in.
Oh Yea! 8)
Congrats.Your gonna like that Serpa,i just picked up the concealment version.Shorter, more of a high rise.
Very nice! You will have to tell us how it compares.
I will probably do some ammo pull downs just because its worth the look! Yes I will need to do some comparisons...we might be able learn a little more. I hoping the 9x25Dillons will show some true performance numbers with the 6" barrel in this G-20SF frame.
However my situation right now is getting things ready for my brother's visit, he wants me to take him and his kids fishing. I have to do some work on my boat to get it in shape, it might need a water pump also. If its not one thing its another. Never ending story!
Yea I can't make out what DT's you have there but those and the Underwood's always prove interesting in a pull-down!
1 - Underwood 180gr GD ammo 50 round box
1 - Underwood 165gr GD ammo 50 round box
1 - Hornady 180XTP gr ammo 20 round box
1 - Hornady 200XTP gr ammo 20 round box
6 - American Eagle 180 FMJ ammo 50 round boxes
4 - Winchester 175 gr Silver Tip 20 round boxes
1 - DoubleTap 180 Nosler 50 round box 10 missing
1 - DoubleTap 165 Rem GS 50 round box
Very nice haul! I'd have jumped on that in a heartbeat.
You may want to contact Blackhawk about that holster. It looks like it might be the older/original design, which had safety issues and was recalled. I returned one a few years ago. I'm not 100% sure yours looks like my original, but it doesn't appear to be the same as the newer ones I have now.
I'll check into that, to see what they say about the holster, I was supplied with the paperwork for it which should help ID the model. Thanks! 8)
Wow what a haul! I guess the seller was getting out of the 10mm game, eh? His loss!!

That's awesome The_Shadow! 8) I knew it could only be just a matter of time. The 9X25 Dillon velocities should be insane!
NIce looking rig. Lots of magazines too!
A while back a G-20 came up for sale on GB, complete with a 9x25 Dillon Barrel and 500 DT 9x25 brass over in Texas. I had bid on the piece the opening bid price was $600. However the guy had a reserve set, so I bid again $650 still reserve not met, evidently the reserve was at the buy it now price of $675. That sort of ticked me off, so I left to run an errand...well it sold before I returned. :o >:(
Then this package was on a local gun forum, but was in the hunt for a Glock 20 4th gen, as I was trying to build my funds back up, since the purchase of the Bren Ten, via cutting some lawns...then this package deal presented itself. I really didn't real need the ammo however this deal was just too good to pass up. The seller was a local law enforcement officer so I felt good about the FTF transaction not being a "HOT" piece. The best part of this was I didn't have to pay the $35 Shipping & $40 transfer fees like I would have on the other one from Texas on GB if I would have won that bid. This deal turned out to be very sweet all the way around! ;D
I wouldn't mind having a few of each of those Double Tap's for gel and Chrony ;D

Glock does NOT make one single model that doesn't feel like I'm holding a brick with a too big a piece of pipe set into the brick at a wrong angle! But that's probably because I small, short fingered, hands. A 1911 just feels SO much better to me.

You can do it, it'll work, but why in the world would you put yourself though all that, when there are much better tools out there to do the job ? ! ? :o

Here's my 10mm, a Gen4 G20 wearing Ameriglo I-Dot night sights:

Very nice. Which thickness backstrap do you find works best for you?
Well to be honest with you Redline I don't use any of the backstraps. This one even came with the new beaver tail backstraps, so I might try one of those just to see what it's like. I don't have banana hands, medium and a little thick so I find that no backstraps feels the best!
Makes sense. Never put much thought into it before as my G20 is a Gen 3. Actually with a grip that size overall that it needs to be just to fit the overall platform scheme I guess I would be surprised that hardly anyone would want it bigger than it had to be. A common thing with Gen 3 G20 grips is slimming them down.
My first G20 was a Gen3 and it was rather large in the grip, and later on when the SF models came out I bought a G20sf. I find the SF to feel better than the regular Gen3 models. The Gen4 without backstrap is the same size grip as an SF Gen3 except with the added grippyness of the Gen4 RTF3 style of grip.
To me the Gen4 feels less blocky... probably due to the texture - it just feels more comfortable in my hand...
I have been carrying my G29 the last few days.
I always miss my 1911 after a day or two, and almost put it back on this morning. But the Glock is just so light compared to a full size double stack 1911 with 16 rounds of 10mm 180 grain in the mag.
Might switch back tonight after work.

I carry in a Crossbreed supertuck. Same holster for G20/21/29/30.

I tried that but behind the hip carry just doesn't work well for me. My arms are fairly long and getting twisted around to draw feels like I have to fold my arm up accordion-style and dislocate my shoulder LOL
Appendix carry provides much better results for me. :-)
To each is own.
Appendix carry places the muzzle in uncomfortable proximity to other "valuables" if you get my drift. While I experience no physical discomfort, I am uncomfortable in the extreme.
I understand perfectly... :-)
Appendix requires diligence each and every time when drawing or holstering... and a good quality purpose-designed holster is a must! It is not for everybody - it just happens to be the only method of carry I've been able to make work for me. If concealment wasn't a necessity I'd probably carry slightly forward of 3 o'clock in an OWB holster. Way before my time but I miss them cowboy days :-)

Took a little getting used to as I've been busting caps with a Colt 38 Super LWC that's one of my carry guns, that little Cmdr. is a real sweet shooter. A lot of power and low recoil with the 38 Super round, it's can be loaded past the 357 Sig if using the Starline Super Comp rimless cases. 38 Super and 10mm Auto are my favorite auto pistol rounds.

Welcome xkejag! I don't even want to get started on SwineStein. I've had such a nice day it would be a shame to ruin it on such a worthless individual to mankind.
If it works for you, fill us in on a range report once you get a chance to launch some rounds downrange with that new Kimber! I like the look and adjustable sights of the Target II version best myself. I don't own one, but someday it could happen.

No doubt it's a bit of a step starting out if you aren't made of money. Especially if you insist on all brand new equipment like me. But I've whittled away little by little, piece by piece, and it's all finally just really coming together (100% single stage at this point). Now my only problem is needing XTP bullets which seem to be at zero availability for now. In the mean time I'm now stocked up with a few thousand brand new Starline Brass 10mm cases, a fair amount of primers, and plenty of powder for load development.
Best of luck moving forward! 8)

Actually, it's a BAD time to start! Obummer caused panic buying/hoarding is also affecting reloading supplies, not just guns and ammo. Powder and primers are almost always out of stock now days. Even Lee Precision Dies are hard to come by!
It's never too late to start reloading
Prices will only go up....SO;
Always collect your Brass
Even if you start with a Lee Loader or a Hand Press, start buying Tools
You don't need to pay hundreds (of dollars) to get started
I started (back in '73) with a Lee Loader and loaded tens of thousands of Rounds with that little Kit
Collect you brass for sure.
When moving I found 300 pieces of 10mm brass I saved back in the 90's when I had my Delta Elite. It was like christmas finding those.
Christmas for friends too, since I found a couple hundred 45 ACP and a couple hundred 357 magnum.

Well, I DID just get some primers, and a couple pounds of powder online. So it's not impossible, just hard.
And super expensive compared to 3 years ago. Three years ago powder was $18 a pound and primers $20 to $25 a 1000/brick. Glad I stocked up back then.

Last November, I got 1000 Wolf Primers on sale for 14 bucks. Saw one place online today that actually had them in stock.....$50!!!!!
Gougers!
IIRC they were up to $10 a brick till Obama and then up again and again then the panic buying of reloading components started in Dec last year when Dem-wits were trying to stop everything gun related, another big effect was the influx of new re-loaders for 223 and then it went to pistol shooters and it's just now kind of catching up and will get back to normal if people stops panic buying.

Finally got out to angeles shooting range with the new kimber target here in la with my wife (glock 19) and 8 year old son (s/w m&p 22).
had all kinds of issues with the armscore fmj 180gr stuff i bought from turners (only 10 they had in stock). they advised running some "factory" 10 thru before i delve into my new hobby of reloading.
multiple times i'd lite a few rounds and have the case eject but the breech/slide open as though i'd finished the magazine...not racking the next round in. happened on the second round i'd ever fired thru it.
i suppose i'll not be using armscore 10mm again.
as far as reload components us newbies will never know how it used to be.....my lgs is bain and davis (top notch operation) and i managed to get unique, power pistol, longshot and bullseye for my various toys but ~ $26 per lb----no more of this 18 per lb i've heard of. SP/LP and SPM CCI primers around are scarce but managed to get 5 bricks but at avg cost per primer of 4.5 cents------no more 2 cent per on those I guess.
but this is calipornia so i should expect this.
we are buying in las vegas this fall. enough of watching my home state circle the drain thanks to the tardbots that have infested this place.
Here are a couple of my newest builds--just got the one from the Colt Custom Shop so I took the Tussey and the Colt out to break in together last weekend. Both were impressive..

Here is my family of Smiths that has changed a little since the pic. 2 1006's, 1 1026, 1 1066, and 2 1076's. Not included in the pic is my 1086, G 20, and G 29.
