I'm not up on the Smiths. What's pre-lock?

Smith added a lock to the frame located partly under where the cyl. release is.  It is still found on almost all Smith wheel guns today.  This change happened with the -3 rev. on the 610.

The gun on the auction (sold already) looks like a no dash (origional release) with a 6 1/2" barrel.  The no dash were made in 5" and 6 1/2".  The 5" usually goes for more money.  The no dash also had a hammer fireing pin and no transfer safety and a fluted cyl.  They had a slightly better trigger pull without all the extra stuff added.  The origional release also came with half moon clips instead of full moon.

So I guess that was a great deal and gone like that!

I thought it was a high price :o
Then again I would not sell my 5" 610 for that

Cheapest I had seen one go for was $1200.

Probably worth it, but too rich for my blood.  I will just keep chasing my brass.

Looks like a little 'dinging' around the crown......hard to tell with internet photos.
