Okay, let me start by saying I don't want this to devolve into a Chinese vs US safe discussion
With that out of the way Im curious if any of you have had one of these for a few years. I have an old 700 that set in the box forgotten for around 6 years until the dealer found it. It had the rubber band hanging the Remington tag round the barrel. That rubber band damaged the finish slightly.
I'm concerned that the rubber shelves and rests in the browning save might cause this same issue to blued finishes. I would just step away but their interior is the best I have seen next to a Pendleton but they are well outside my price range.
Any one have one for a while and see any issues like this?
My safe has a felt-like material on all the surfaces, so I have no experience with the rubber or neoprene shelves/racks. I also live in one of the most arid states.
Any material which can hold moisture or humidity against the surface of the metal has the potential to cause issues. A good safe de-humidifier as well as a climate controlled location will alleviate this concern be keeping the humidity levels low.
Also, letting a gun temperature normalize and dry outside the safe before going in will help.
Edit to add...I would suggest a desiccate based dehumidifier product over a goldenrod. My understanding it the rod only heats the safe to prevent condensation and actually does nothing to remove water from the air. Desiccate in a plastic container with vent holes in it will trap water and can be microwaved periodically to restore it's function.
