Title: Cimarron Badboy 44Magnum Penetration Test
Post by: mr.revolverguy on June 05 2020 07:36:38 PM MDT
Loaded up
180gr Hornady XTP
200gr Speer GodDot
200gr Hornady XTP
210gr Sierra JHP
240gr Hornady XTP
Factory Speer GoldDot 210gr

Loaded up max grains of medium burning powder HS-6 for each load and shot them in some gel. Could you guess what the penetration depth would be?

I was pleasantly surprised in the Factory Speer 210gr

I really like the loads they are about 150fps off what hodgdon publishes. One reason I chose those loads is because al of hodgdon velocities were advertised to be with a 8.2in barrel.

I had figured that the projectiles would be in the 16" to 20" penetration by the bullet design...
The video was very enlightening with the velocity and gel testing!
Thank You for the Day At The Range Reporting!  :D

Next we are going to see what hard cast of 10MM and 44Mag looks like in gel. I think I will need to get a better back stop.

Yes they will do 25" to 30" of gel!  Maybe even more.
