Title: Data for 180gr RNFP
Post by: Alabusa on June 29 2020 08:41:49 AM MDT
Wondering if anyone has any load data for 180 grain cast RNFP using BE-86 or Blue Dot that they would mind sharing. Especially the data for BE86. I have the Lyman 4th and it gives data for Blue Dot but has nothing for BE86.

BE-86 is a newer powder (Alliant doesn't list any data for cast bullets), based on some of my test with 200 grain Gold Dots with 8.4 grains, you should be good going to 8.6 grains and maybe up to 8.8 grains depending on your setup!

10 grains of Blue Dot works for me with just about every 180 grain bullet I've loaded.

Bumping the BD charge up to 10.4 Under a 180gr XTP, or HAP always gets me some amazing accuracy, way better than I can shoot to be sure

When using be-86 I've been starting with unique data and working up. Some really like but for me I'm not 5hat excited about it.  I really like ramshot silhouette and accurate arms number 5

I like BE86 in my 9mm but went to Blue Dot in my 10mm because I couldn't get the accuracy i was looking for. Thanks for the Unique reference!!

Its crazy. I bought a LEE 175 TL mold years ago. I tried and tried but altho they feed wonderfully my 40's and 10's NEVER shot it worth a durn!!

Last year I bought a LEE 175 TC mold. BING BANG POW!!! IMMEDIATELY I was shooting one hole groups. And doing so with most powders and at all velocities.

I sold that TL mold and cherish the TC!!!  I have some 12-1500 cast up waiting!!!

CW

EDIT. I have a Lyman 401634 mold thats a 1&0 RNFP Bullet thats every bit as good as the TC bullet
From lEE. Only it's a 2 cav instead of a 6cav.
