Title: Anyone have the taurus g2c 9mm
Post by: Kenk on July 24 2020 07:51:50 AM MDT
a friend is on a very tight budget and is looking at the taurus g2c 9mm for $229.00. The reviews appear to be very good for something so inexpensive, any thoughts would be great. I'm not a fan of taurus personality but it doesn't look bad at all
Thanks

Ken

Anyone who looks through my gun safe will immediately know I am not a gun snob.  Plenty of cheap guns and clones in there.

But with the exception of the Taurus PT clones of the Beretta 92/96, I steer clear of Taurus.  Just to hit and miss.

I don't have one but my best friend does and I have shot it a lot. The gun is reliable and pretty darn accurate. My only complaint is the trigger. It is horrible on his gun. There are aftermarket trigger shoes available that help though. I wouldn't mind having one and feel safe in recommending it to any budget conscious buyer.

went with my friend today, and the shop owner recommended taking a look at the new and improved Taurus G3C 9mm. The trigger is is better, as well as a few other changes from the original G2C, and is still only $250.00ish. My Friend said YES, I'll take it 😀

I heard the G3C has an easy to rack slide. Is that the case?

Yes, very easy to chamber a round

My brother has one and I have been impressed with that gun. I won't buy one but it has impressed me with its reliability. He has about 1,000 rounds through it with zero issues.  The trigger sucks but for the price it's a decent little pistol.

New post for an old thread ...

Anyhow, between my wife and I we have owned 5 of the G2c's. I recently bought my daughter the G3.

I was a Taurus fan until the wifes G2c feed ramp started chipping. No problem, I'll reach out to Taurus. Several attempts at filling out their  repair form, only netted me emails  confirming my repair requests and assuring me that Taurus will contact me.

8 months later I call them and get their CS who denies ever having gotten any repair requests from me. I sent it in yesterday.

The trigger on the G2c is verrrryy long. It is however usable. I get used to it and all is fine until I shoot something else.

The G3 has less than 500 rnds through it. Its been fine.

Don't know that I'll buy any more ...

I'm not a gun-snob either, but I do believe in value for money, and I don't think you get that with Taurus. $600~800 isn't much to spend on a tool that will last your entire life and then some, and there are plenty of very good guns available in that price range.

My firearms instructor in the Sheriff's Academy owned a gun store and indoor shooting range, and he specifically singled out Taurus as a gun you don't want to buy, even though he made more on a Taurus than on a Glock or S&W or Springfield. I think his quote was "They look like guns on the outside, but not so much on the inside."
